heres some photos of the internals:
the thickness at the edge is 1.5 and the thickness at the base where the heatsink touches is 3mm. the plate that the stars mount on is 6mm thick and makes contact with the outside housing.
the optic can be replaced with this...

i understand that now! you reckon i should use a driver or go direct driven if i was to use 4 of these in parallel in a maglite?
i was wondering, i ordered the MC-E on the 20mm star wired for series and it says that it needs 14.4 volts to be powered.
does this mean that each die on the emitter is wired in series with each other?
if so, does this mean i can run the board at 700mA to achieve 2.8 aH overall?
