If you can still find them (try e.g. www.mouser.com), the blue SST-90 from Luminus are an excellent choice (but unfortunately discontinued by the manufacturer)!

Where can I buy Cree XT-E royal blue LEDs, preferably XTEARY-00-0000-000000N04?

460 nm is just fine for "normal" purposes of observing fluorescence under water. Actually I use LEDs of roughly 450-470 nm. The "trick" or trade secret lies in the use of the right excitation filter (a dichroic filter, for greater precision), which "trims" the spectrum (= distribution of...

"Fat Star" Octa 8x SST-90 Colossus Led Flashlight @ 18.000 lumens -more beamshots-

Re: "Fat Star" Octa 8x SST-90 Colossus Led Flashlight @ 18.000 lumens -more beamshots Hi Steffen, the problem is that only very few bins will actually make it to the consumer market level and will be sold as retail. The vast majority of bins will only be sold in huge quantities to enterprises...

Nichia 365nm UV Light offerings (NEW 5-12-17)

Re: Nichia 365nm Light offerings Hi Don! The latter is exactly what happens in the image above with the red anemone; the ambient light is a full spectrum source of light missing red at that depth under water. It's all clear now! :-) This is exactly what we do with our blue lights. Water is...
