Is someone here using GREEN light on headlamps?

I often use a green Princeton Tec Apex during the summer months because it seems to attract bugs less than white lights and it seems brighter than a red light.

    PT Remix

How do you make the determination that it uses PWM? I am not doubting your word - I am curious as to how this determination is made, other than by asking the manufacturer.

    Headlamps and bugs?

I have read that green LEDs attract bugs less than white LEDs (see the article at http://www.buzzle.com/articles/when-to-use-a-red-green-or-blue-led-light.html ). I have not confirmed this myself. If this is correct, you might want to try a headlamp with green LEDs, such as the new PT Remix...

    PT Apex brightness levels?

I don't know if Princeton Tec has a 1-800 number, but their "regular" phone number is (609) 298-9331. This number is on their website and I have called them using this number. And yes, both of my 2 Apex headlamps have very distinct differences between high and low, both on the luxeon LEDs and...

2 month old Princeton Tec Apex died for no apparent reason

When I had a problem with one of the clips on the battery case that holds the headstrap cracking, I simply mailed it to Princeton Tec by Priority Mail at the warranty service address given in the instructions that accompanied the light, along with a letter describing the problem and a copy of my...

PT Apex Run Time Plots Alkaline/NiMH (UPDATED 11-04-05)

Late last summer, when I was considering purchasing the Apex Pro instead of the Apex, I emailed Princeton Tec to ask if it would accept rechargeable CR123As. They sent an email reply to the effect that the Apex Pro would have a shorter burn time than the Apex and that while it would accept...

Sources for flashlights with colored leds (no mods)

Quality China Goods (Dae's site) has a 3 color light (white, green, red) that uses 3 AAA batteries and has 29 LEDs (3 white, 10 green and 16 red). The white light is not terribly bright; the green is brighter, and the red is good if you want to preserve night vision. The link is...

FifthUnit: new lights and chat feature

Never mind, my question was answered while I was composing my post.

I think ULTRAFIRE finally got it right.

mhubble, are you speaking of the light that FIFTHUNIT.COM calls "CHARM" or the one that they call "VIPPA"? I can't see the WF602A1 on either of these lights on their website, and they both take a single AA battery.

    luxeon torchs in fifthunit.com

There seem to be 2 versions of the VIKA, one that takes two CR123A rechargeable 3.6V batteries, and another that takes one 18650 battery. My guess would be that the 18650 version would be less bright because of the lower voltage than two CR123As, but that is supposition on my part. In response...

Princeton Tec Apex PRO - Where is it?

If you type "Princeton Tec Apex Pro" in Froogle (Google's shopping price comparison site), you get several retailers that claim to have it, some for $62.48. I know nothing about the bona fides of the said dealers that claim to have it.... One caveat: About 5 weeks ago I too noted that there was...

    Superfire 16W 2xRCR123

Could you explain what you mean by "2C discharge on the li-ions"? I thought that maybe you meant 2 amps (8.4v for the 2 LIR 123s times 2 amps would equal approximately 16 watts).

New (?) inexpensive Multi LED - multi-function 3AA headlamp from Garrity

Thanks very much - now I will pester my local WalMart to order one!

    What headlamp to get?

Tachion, after playing with/looking at the straps on my Apex, which are elasticized and also have length adjustment "buckles" (or whatever they are called), it seems that one would have to REALLY stretch the straps in order for there to be much danger of them coming out of the headband retaining...

    What headlamp to get?

You are most welcome - I am glad to provide a link if it may save somebody some money. I DO have a big head, and the adjustability of the headbands on the PT Apex is sufficient to allow an easy fit for me. I don't have a helmet and so can't address that issue from experience; the adjustability...
