Discussion thread: A2 dumb LED rings - (Onion Ring)

Re: A2 dumb LED rings - (Onion Ring) It’s pretty pathetic that there’s an ungrateful idiot out there who has nothing better to do but attack someone who’s not only providing a service to the community, but also advancing the “art”. Vincent, please ignore this clown, I’m sure that the...

Discussion thread: A2 dumb LED rings - (Onion Ring)

Re: A2 dumb LED rings - (Onion Ring) I’m just wondering if someone could please post the Inside Diameter and Outside Diameter of these beauties? I may be interested in a few of these if the numbers work out for me. :grin2: Cheers, Dave.

    Would anyone be interested in...

Wouldn’t wiring the cavities in series result in a higher forward voltage / lower drive current, while wiring them in parallel would give you the lower forward voltage but much higher drive currents? :) ;) The issue of multiple dies / emitters being wired in parallel has been documented...

    Would anyone be interested in...

From R33E8’s previous posts my understanding is that he has an internship with Lamina, and was aiming to seek permission to make a few custom Titan boards packed with some newer Cree dies. I guess the big question is if he’s actually allowed to do this, yet alone sell them! :thinking...

    Would anyone be interested in...

Judging by your previous posts I can only assume you’re talking about making some one off Lamina based devices rather than a commercial product? :grin2: How will the package be wired, estimated forward voltage, drive current? With a bit more information I could be very...

Great to see things back in action Jon! :twothumbs I hope the Stenlight Reflectors will make a comeback in time? Dave.

    JSBurly's is Back!!!

Very true, although I really hope he's back in action I will remove my link for the time being. He does appear to be active on edcforums however, and he does have the same link in his signature.

Where the heck do you buy lye?

Some brands of oven cleaner also have a sufficient amount of lye to strip anodising. The process isn't as quick, but often that can be a good thing. Cheers, Dave.

    JSBurly's is Back!!!

Brilliant!! Great to hear that things may be on the up for Jon! :twothumbs Hopefully I can look forward to some Stenlight Reflector purchases in the not too far distant future. His new website is here! Cheers, Dave.

Will this 20mm holder work with Carclo optics?

PM Sent! I understand that the Carclo 20mm holders for the later Luxeon emitters should work just fine with the Seoul P4. I’m not sure if an L2 holder would work with the Carclo optics or not though. I guess as long as the optic sat on top of the emitter properly it would be...

    Soldering Connections to Bflex

While I admit to doing the same, the use of a solder sucker or some de-soldering braid may be a little safer. The main thing to be careful of is applying too much heat if you're not overly experienced at soldering.

    Bike Light mounts

I have used the Cateye H-24, and more recently the Lupine mount, both with success. The Lupine is quite pricey, but it's a much better mount for my needs. Dave.

    Soldering Connections to Bflex

Hi Dom, I’m still floating around! Unfortunately I’ve been lurking a lot more than contributing on any forums recently. :o I graduated from uni at the end of last year, so I’m sure I’ll be posting a little more frequently from now on. I do have a couple of projects drawn up or in...

    Soldering Connections to Bflex

Another option if space isn’t too much of an issue is to solder some PCB pins in the holes and then solder your wires to the pins. Dave.
