Personally I have found the danger caused by cool white LED's was mainly in my sleep cycle. I didn't know it was happening but lack of solid sleep was driving me nuts and messing with my health. Now I avoid any cool white lights/blue LED screen tints in the evening and all is much better.

+1 on this - I always fill the excess space in my freezer with milk jug ice blocks. The freezer works a bit less and your food lasts days at a time. And as said before, never open the Fridge or Freezer.
I live in Alaska and the power goes out often enough to plan for. I've never tested how...
My kids each have these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GD463NE/?tag=cpf0b6-20
USB rechargeable so no need to refresh batteries, water resistant, red light for reading at night and cheap. They have different colors to tell them apart and they love them.
I ran across a video where they tested a few color scenarios and blood tracking and he noted a big difference between LED and Incandescent bulbs with the same color filter. I thought it was an interesting point on the subject. FF to about 9:00. https://youtu.be/7ukbPrzdmNA
I live in Alaska and I use Lithium 'AA' primaries for my game cameras that are constantly in the cold, and sometimes for flashlights that live in a vehicle over the winter.

Is a 14500 powered light an option? same size with more punch to make up for the dimness of a single cell alkaline. Likely you can find a dual-fuel one like the Thorfire Mini that will still work with standard 'AA' cells for disaster prep.
My kids are 9 and 10, so about the same age as your younger two. They are in the woods at night constantly but I always give them the 'AA' lights out of the junk drawer. My main reason and concern though is that they lose stuff ALL of the time and I just don't want them losing my more...
Warm White is an amber color (think a torch, campfire or incandescent bulb), while Neutral White is more like natural daylight. Warm White is easier on the eyes and doesn't disrupt sleep cycles as badly as Neutral or Cool white does.
Another advantage of a red light is it will not disrupt sleep cycles like neutral or cool white. Blue light spectrum blocks melatonin production in the body.
in photography the best camera in the world is the one you have with you when you need it. Much the same with EDC lights.
For me that means small form factor (AAA or 10440) that will fit in my pocket, which usually have a more floody beam with not much reach but lights up a small room or...
I bought a Foxelli headlamp for my kids. There's 2 integrated Red LED's, waterproof, USB rechargeable and cheap and they haven't broken them yet.
Note the batteries are not replaceable but the red light just sips the juice.
