    Feit vintage bulbs at Lowes

To get around that, stores are selling 130v rough service bulbs instead, so people are using even more inefficient bulbs! 380 lumens at 53 watts on 120v IIRC...

    t8 led bulb-plug and play

I'd suggest using the kind of retrofit where you replace the ballast with a CC power supply designed for the LEDs, and install the LED "tubes" which don't really have any extra circuitry in them except the LEDs (maybe there is some though but probably not much).

Irritating trend in automotive lighting - PWM taillights

Incandescent lamps burn out and i've seen cars with burnt out brake/tail lights, and that can be dangerous. LEDs are much more reliable. And they illuminate instantly.

Irritating trend in automotive lighting - PWM taillights

Just realized this is a really ole thread but the topic still applies today. I agree with everyone here who hates those flickering taillights. Why don't they use voltage dimming?! Or at least use a smoothing capacitor!

    Help with old track lighting

Interesting. My first thought was that those were HID lamps and that big bulk contains the ballast, but on second thought it could be a low voltage halogen lamp with the big bulk of it containing the transformer. The first thing I'd suggest you do is take one down so you can get an easier...

    E11 Mini Candelabra Halogen Conversion

Oh god yes you must have christmas lights that don't flicker if you are using them for lighting! If you use cheap LED strings that you get from walmart or some hardware store, it'll massacre your eyes!! :sick2: Edit: just noticed this is an old thread :E oh well

    Back Wall Parking Lot Light

Yeah, O.P. doesn't need high CRI or dimmability. The much higher up-front cost would not be worth it when it is only a few watts more efficient. And dimmability may be a bad thing. It may help thieves hide.

    Back Wall Parking Lot Light

What about low pressure sodium? Are LPS fixtures more efficient than LED fixtures?

Do you still use incandescent light bulbs?

I got one 60w equivalent for that price.

Do you still use incandescent light bulbs?

You missed the clearance of Cree TW lamps at home depot. They were selling for half that!

How does the Philips basic bulb diffuser work?

Many/some A-style LED lamps (particularly older/classic ones or cheap ones) are very directional even with the diffuser. An example is this lamp, the old LSG 40w equivalent LED lamp. Newer lamps handle the diffusion well. Cree lamps have many LEDs facing 180˚ horizontally, and covered with a...

    Halogen lighting for Bartop

When choosing halogen reflector lamps, make sure to choose the correct reflector type. For your use you should choose a lamp with an aluminum reflector. See this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgZdKGndFs8

How does the Philips basic bulb diffuser work?

Lamp shades don't help much when most of the light is shining straight upwards.
