How hard can you push the SST-50?

Just tried Der Wichtel's 9.1 amp rated driver for the sst-90 on a KD SSR-50. The SSR-50 is mounted with arctic silver on to a copper slug and epoxied around doughnut style. Working great for short bursts till now.

How hard can you push the SST-50?

The SST-50 driven to 9Amp will have a surface brightness same as XRE R2 at 1.8 Amp, I.E. higher surface brightness than the original DEFT (XRE R2/1.6A). It'll will take SST-90 driven to 16 Amp to match up the surface brightness. __________________ This has changed my direction. Then I would...

How hard can you push the SST-50?

Thanks for your inputs. I have an SST-90 running at 9.1 amps. but the spot is too big for my liking. Will stick with 5 amps for the SST-50. Thanks again.

Building an aspheric lens torch using the feilong 80mm lens. Would the sst-50 survive Der Wichtel's 9 amp driver for short bursts using a copper heat sink? All views appreciated.

+1 Sterr11. Looks like red wire is soldered to spring with the thermistor sleeping.

TUTORIAL Surefire MN series bulb mod.

You are perfectly "spot on focus" Justin!!! It's 23 mm. Did another 64250 and it's the tightest. Thanks for all your help including led info. Roland.

TUTORIAL Surefire MN series bulb mod.

Fully agree with you Justin. It's a bit finicky holding the vernier and the bulb to get a dead on centre measurement. Neither did I delve too deeply into that dept. Given the time I will machine some bulb holders having a threaded disc for filament height control. The advanced engineering...

TUTORIAL Surefire MN series bulb mod.

Oops missed Justin's question on filament height. I used the vernier calipers to measure the filament height from a standard MN21. It is 22mm from the base of the holder where it contacts the reflector to the centre of the filament coil. Also experimented moving the bulb in the reflector in...

TUTORIAL Surefire MN series bulb mod.

Feel elated getting a compliment from the maestro! POP- plaster of paris( in my case 'dental grade' plaster) Easy to work with, sets quickly, more resilient to heat than necessary for the job, tough enough to hold besides being supple enabling easy removal for the next bulb change. :whistle...

TUTORIAL Surefire MN series bulb mod.

Yes Justin, I have potted the 5761 with POP after shaving off a little bit of glass off the bulb here and there with a high speed dental turbine using diamond drill. Yup- dentist. The main problem arose with the solder not holding to the bulb terminals. Solved it by winding copper wire around it...

In this picture tutorial I have replaced the bulb in the MN21 with a Philips 5761. There are many others bulbs around which can be used. Thanks for looking.

New design for M6-2x18650 in series battery holder

The spring is not part of the circuit. All contacts are made of brass, riveted and then soldered (though not needed).

New design for M6-2x18650 in series battery holder

Re: New design for M6-2x18650 battery holder Thanks Starlight. Not in the sales dept.(yet). The objectives of getting rid of the wire and resetting nut were very successfully met using a spring loaded disc. Also this design can be improved on and the spring loaded disc concept can be...
