    Body-heat powered flashlight

Re: what do you guys think about this kid? Probably won't rival the brightest of the bright, but there are obviously tons of applications for this kind of light. Bravo!

    FENIX PD35 switch question/advice

I suppose this is why lights that are meant for police and military duty in these circumstances have a single button at the back. If you still want to use the PD35, Lun@tic's suggestion might work, unless the clip shifts. Then you still risk your pinky finger pressing the button when you grab...

    High-lumen thrower

I'm itching to buy the 900-lumen TK35 just so that I have a light that can put out that massive wall of light. Still, the TK41 is a better thrower, and I like the idea of getting that many lumens down range. Is there a light that does neat 1,000 lumens like the TK35, but has the range of the...

How much more headroom is there?

LEDs came a long way from when I first got into the hobby in, oh, the late 90's. Back then, LEDs were bigger and less efficient, and we'd get only a few lumens from a big LED. Nowadays LEDs are many times more efficient with the power they're given. At a certain point I imagine it'll be...

    Flashlight for an engineer

My brother in law is an engineer and works on HVAC systems. He is in need of a reliable AA flashlight to shine down dark HVAC shafts in the course of his daily work, so I want to get him one for his birthday. His wish list: AA batteries* Tailstand Belt holster Easy to operate Looks professional...

Lights that you are surprised are not more popular

I'm not a fan of the E03. I have two of them, and one of them broke shortly after buying it -- it must have a short somewhere that eats batteries shortly after new ones are installed. I chalk it up to lax quality control on a budget light. I'd go with the SC52. My SC51 isn't perfect, but it's...

    Surefire Outdoorsman E2L AA Help!

Wow, 120 lumens from 2xAA! How is Surefire so advanced? :ironic: Seriously, why is the E2L-AA so much dimmer than competing AA lights?

I'm no longer a Lumen Whore

Anyone else other than Xeno? I have two E03's (XM-L), and one of them died shortly after it arrived. I'd rather buy elsewhere.

I'm no longer a Lumen Whore

Does the Xeno E03 have a Nichia?

I'm no longer a Lumen Whore

Are there any retail lights that have this magical Nichia 219 LED? Fun fact: My first LED flashlight, a Tektite AA light, had four Nichia LEDs in it.

    Idiot lumen/cd question...

Good explanations so far. Let me add that lumens measures the total output which is why we tend to focus on it more here at CPF. The same way more horsepower generally means more power in a car, more lumens means more light coming from a flashlight. The more light the flashlight produces, the...

    Cooking for Thanksgiving

Wondered if anyone was cooking dinner with their flashlights, and I guess so: http://www.hardocp.com/news/2012/11/21/thanksgiving_turkey_cooked_flashlights/ Wonder what you could do with a few TK-75's

Which of your lights seems to be the toughest? Least tough?

Toughest? The Photon Light II on my keychain takes the most beating and still works after nearly ten years. My Petzl headlamp keeps on working after constant abuse (maybe 5 years old) and so far my Surefire G2X proves reliable, though it's only about a year old. Least reliable? Probably the...

    Zebralight clip failed; flashlight lost

I noticed after the couple months since I started carrying my SC51 that the clip wasn't quite as tight as it once was. I lamented the poor clip, and explained it away by telling myself that over time the metal just bends. Well, it became loose enough to come clear off my belt a few days ago, and...

    Wierd issue with SC51

Thanks for the advice, fellas. Let's see here... The batteries are probably not the issue, as they are brand new eneloops, charged in a Maha C800S. The contacts *look* clean, but I'll rub 'em down and use the light for a bit to see if that fixes the issue. Will update after I have some more use...
