    Home hologram kit

My experience has been that diode lasers hop too much - you can get good results, but it's hit and miss. If you've got a good HeNe, use that. I did get holograms using the litiholo kit, but the results you get from the integraf kits are far superior, but you have to work with somewhat scary...

    You guys scare me.

Leadlight (from Atlasnova) Envee (from Lucent Optics) RPL 260 and RPL-300 (optotronics) and the pointer I got from Dragonlasers do **not** leak IR energy. Cheapo eBay pointers do leak. The higher powered lasers are dangerous to your eyesight anyway, so be careful out there, use the appropriate...

    Talk me out of it

I have a couple. Look for "lucent optics" in previous threads. I am not affiliated with them in any way except as a satisfied customer.

    Whaoo it is a joke?

    1) You can check out the negative feedback left here: http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=stopchoose&Dirn=Received+by&ref=home Bear in mind that people on ebay are averse to leaving negative feedback, because they might get a neg in return. When looking at feedback, the situation is...

    Talk me out of it

If you have scanning equipment and a fog generator there's lots of amusement there. I had an RPL-260, which I sold on eBay, but that was because I got a RPL-300 :D I noticed that when run through a diverging lens, there was some mode shifting on both the RPL-260 and on the RPL-300, but that...

    parts distributors?

I have had experience with them. They are good, items arrived promptly and properly packed. Alle prima. --Ted

    Newbie Q: Helium Neon?

There are certain advantages to hene lasers. 1) They are much less prone to mode hopping problems - the coherence length isn't as great as for properly set up diode lasers, but once they are settled, you can pretty much count on the wavelength not hopping. 2) beam is pretty much gaussian, not...

laser pointer hard to see on tv screen

I think that most screens are designed to reflect as little light as possible, so that contrast is good if there's lots of ambient light.

No IR filter in your pointer? Here's a solution

I think you can also get ém out of webcams. I've modified webcams, replacing the IR blocking filter with an IR passing one (easy IR webcam!) but I don't know how good the IR filter was. --Ted.

New Budget Laser Power Meter in the Works - Future GB material. 1-800mW

I have one of the holography units, and it works well. I don't typically use it for green laser power measurement, but the results I have got are consistent with the sper meter. The stock unit reads for 532 and 633 nm, so that should cover green laser enthusiasts. Perhaps it might be nice...

Modify a green laser to output a line rather than dot

Meridith Instruments also has the line generating optics too. The optics don't produce as nice a line as the scanner does though. --Ted

    Problems with my new NV-100

I think a lot depends on the balloons or the matches. I have some matches that are resistant to ignition by laser. You have to have something to hold the laser in position since the beam has to stay on the same spot for a while for the match to ignite. As far as balloons go, some of them are...

How do you carry your laser?

Oh man, I should have waited before ordering, oh well.... I didn't spend too much on the boxes. I should maybe look at mounting some of the sapphire windows I bought in the box when it comes, and see if I can rig a way of activating the laser while it's in the box.

    Leadlight?

The uxcell item board has a pot on it, which can be adjusted. I don't know if it makes it brighter or not, that pointer has been disassembled to the point of it not making a difference any more :D :D :D BTW, there's no IR filter in those pointers. --Ted

How do you carry your laser?

Ok, I went and ordered an otterbox on spec - I hope it's long enough, the lasers are much longer than your average stogie. We shall see when it arrives...
