Reliable 200w+ 12v supply for LEDs?

Well I've ended up buying the MEAN WELL RSP-200-12 supply. Including VAT, it is around 3 times the price of the other supplies I've had that have had some fault within 2 years or less so I hope this will last longer! At least it comes with a 3 year warranty. I happened to have a spare PC power...

Reliable 200w+ 12v supply for LEDs?

Ah now that would be a problem. My switch would be on input cable (230v in the UK) input. So it would mean frequently turning the supply on an off drawing 180w instantly each time. I don't suppose that would be good for it. One reason why I think I would be better off going for the meanwell one...

Reliable 200w+ 12v supply for LEDs?

Yea I certainly did think about this. PC supplies are really reliable and their fans are very quiet. But they area too bulky for the planned location and as you say will need a bit of modding. I had one sometime ago before deciding to go for this amazon supply and I wasn't sure if an individual...

Reliable 200w+ 12v supply for LEDs?

I've since found the page that sold the LED strips that I have: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-24V-240leds-m-Double-Row-Led-strip-2835-5m-1200Leds-flexible-rope-tape-light/291811144704?hash=item43f14cb400:g:AHEAAOSwtnpXlibf I'm sure many on this forum would be against anything at this price...

Reliable 200w+ 12v supply for LEDs?

I'm back to being a little stuck again. Many of these supplies on ebay and amazon are just unbranded or some random name that you search, then find nothing. I think I have luckily got away with getting cheap LED strips. The CRI is pretty poor, but they have worked out excellent value. They use...

Quiet 12v Power Supplies for LED strips

Well, the noise from this has remained the same while turned off. But just a few days ago, it has given up totally. If your advice could be that it maybe isn't designed to permanently have power running to it, but have the transformer under no load a lot of the time, that may explain it. I had...

LED strip lights for stair/step lights, etc.

Regarding Led strips, I have probably bought well over 10 different brands or unknown brands of 5m rolls of the stuff. I've also had many different impressions of the LED diodes themselves. I've found the 5630 LED chips to be the best out of what I've had. The interesting thing is that the...

Quiet 12v Power Supplies for LED strips

The power supply I got may have been cheap, but it did specifically say it was suitable for LED strips. I would assume that in many situations, they would not be turned on the whole time. The clicks the supply has started making when switched off is quite inconsistent. i would probably say...

Quiet 12v Power Supplies for LED strips

I may as well also ask this here. I have 3 long LED strips in my garage at home. 3x2.5m. The strips are 2 LEDs wide and claim to use 24 watts per metre which I think is pretty accurate, despite them being cheap. If you don't take into account that the strips probably lose a bit of power over...

Quiet 12v Power Supplies for LED strips

The thing that I notice is that if the power supply makes audible noise, my PWM dimmer makes the same when dimmed. Where as if the power supply makes no or little audible noise, that is the same for the dimmer switch for the LED strip. At least is in my case. But no matter if the power supply is...

Less Costly Alternative for Philips Hue with Good CRI

I've had difficulty getting neutral or cool white lamps with good CRI, especially being dimmable too. Enough that I ended up getting an LED strip and making something myself...

Quiet 12v Power Supplies for LED strips

EDIT: This doesn't seem to let me split my post in to paragraphs or start on the next line despite me editing and previewing with it looking correct several times, so sorry if it looks a mess. Starts here >> Interesting. When I think about it, this 2A LG power supply came with an external...

Quiet 12v Power Supplies for LED strips

Sorry for the late response. I will see if i can look more into some power supplies from the brand that you mention. From what I have seen so far, it tends to be more the open sort rather than enclosed in a case. Regarding computer power supplies, I either have some old ones lying around or...

Quiet 12v Power Supplies for LED strips

I am having a lot of difficulty in getting what seems a good quality 12v power supply. I wondered weather to ask here or on headfi as I also use them for audio stuff too. The problem I have is that I am incredibly sensitive to sound. I find the high pitched buzz emitted from a lot of power...
