    should i be concerned really at this loss ?

    I've been down that rabbit hole also. Flood or throw. EDC or tool box, etc. Brighest is not always the best.

    general use flashlight, AA/AAA, <$75

    I picked up a NEBO Redline for under $24 delivered. Uses 3 AAA alkaline batteries. 1X to 4X zoom, 3 light level settings - 220, 110 and 22 lumens. SOS and strobe. Good quality and versatile light for the money.

    Car flashlight

    For a car light, I like one that has a flood to spot adjustment. Just more versatile overall as I tend to use my car light for many situations.
