Blue LED's similar to UV light?

As you have noticed, many fluorescent materials can be excited by both Blue (450-470nm) and UV (365-395nm, for example). Blue will excite many man-made fluorescent materials, and, more importantly, organic evidence. The advantage of using Blue wavelengths when looking for evidence on fabric...

    good vs cheap UV?

You will find you probably get what you pay for -- the new Nichia 375nm LEDs are great combining both shorter wavelength and power. Piers!

Need help with finding a UV LED Flashlight

We have lanterns at 395nm and 365nm. The 365nm lanterns exceed the requirement for 1000uW/cm2 at 15 inches, and the 395nm lanterns are about 10X that power as I recall. Feel free to ask more questions :) Cheers, Piers

how many 300+lumen led lights are there?

We can make our XeLED-Cr7UV-R-395 lantern with seven of the white Cree XRE emitters installed (instead of the UV or blue) :) Piers

    Need a UV flashlight, suggestions?

A lot of the time in the CSI show (and in real life), blue wavelengths and orange barrier filter glasses are used. The advantage is that when looking for organic stains in bedsheets and clothing, if washed with brightening detergents, the evidence is visible. Under UV, the brightners will...

LED flashlight experience: 2 weeks in a Costa Rica rainforest (more pics added)

Re: LED flashlight experience: 2 weeks in a Costa Rica rainforest Ah -- this brings back memories. We used to breed red-eye's, took about 4 years to get the system down of conditioning, diet, feeding (breeding crickets), etc. Diet in the tadpoles was the most difficult part for proper...

Looking for Red, Green and Blue lights

My kids love our Automotive Edition white-to-UV, because they say "let's turn the lights off and look for evidence" -- there are a number of interesting stains in the carpet from the previous owners :) If you need lots of power, we have the three-, four-, and seven-xLamp flashlights and...

    UV Led lights

Unlike the Nichia 365nm LEDs, these 380nm LEDs look like any other 5mm clear epoxy LED. You'll find that you can probably straight replace them by soldering in many flashlights, once you have pulled them apart to expose the circuit board. Piers!

    Inova X-5 with red LED's??

We have a regulated six-LED version using Nichia red LEDs, in a 2AA miniMag, if you need one. Cheers, Piers

    UV Led lights

I haven't tried different passports, but if they are like driver's licences, 380nm would work for most, but there will be a few that do not react under 380nm and require the shorter 365nm wavelength. The smasllest we make is the 2AA model, regulated output from six nichia 365nm LEDs. I guess...
