But around the house, especially in the evenings, the negative display, even with MIP tech, is a relatively poor choice for good readability. So, I've resigned myself to wearing this watch when I want something tough and durable and I'm going to be outdoors, or in brightly lit environments. No more negative displays for me. I don't use the tides function on this (surf) watch, but I do use the sunrise/sunset data on it.

I also have a couple more G-Shocks inbound via DHL from Japan.

I decided to round out my G-Shock stable with a GMW-5000 (all steel, positive STN digital display with BT, MB6, and Tough Solar) and a GW-BX5600 (resin, positive MIP display with BT, MB6, and Tough Solar). I really like the BT controls and time accuracy as well as the Solar charging. Just so convenient - all the time. I will post pics when I make 'em.

The GMW-B5000 1JF (Japanese market model), all-steel G-Shock arrived from Japan yesterday. Bluetooth controls with the app, Tough Solar power, and MB6 time sync. STN display tech, multiple alarms, world time, stopwatch, timers, yada yada. I will use it mostly just to note the time and so that my left wrist doesn't feel bare. 😆

A fair bit of bling going on with the bracelet.

For daily wear, I think I prefer it on this black strap. Will save the bracelet for some "dressier" occasions.

All in all, I'm more of an analog watch guy. But I do appreciate sporting some digital now and then.

I've got one more "square" about to arrive from Japan and then I'm done with digital squares. (3 of them)

Inbound is the GW-BX5600 1JF.

I'm finding that the digital square displays aren't quite as easy to read indoors as a good analog is. Especially as compared to the superb GST-B1000. The angled, high polished metal hour markers on this watch catch any light available at all manner of angles. The indices literally sparkle, but no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to capture that in photos.

But, the GW-BX5600 has, arguably, the very best digital display available: positive MIP tech. I'm hoping that I can appreciate it.

For my purposes, in an overall assessment of G-Shock watches for day to day reading the time, for reasonable size, weight, quick readability, always powered, always accurate, and sensibly priced - nothing in the G-Shock line up beats some of the variants in the GA-B2100 line.

Just a few of those 2100 variants feature bright hour markers, larger bright hour and minute hands, and a black face - making for truly excellent readability, at a quick glance - even under dimmer indoor conditions.

One of these is the excellent GA-B2100LUU, which features bright hour markers and larger, brighter hour and minute hands than most of the other variants in the line. Really great for for aging eyes.

Another great thing about the GA-B2100 line is the wide variety of easy modding options. Bezels in different colors/materials and strap colors/materials are widely available for these models - you can so easily customize these to look however you would like them to look. Including steel bezels and bracelets, if desired.

For example... the yellow bezel shown here pops right off and can be replaced with a wide variety of colors, even steel bezels. Same with the straps. Easy to design just the color combination you might like to have.

I wouldn't be surprised if the combined variants of the GA-2100 (battery powered) and GA-B2100 (Solar powered and Bluetooth controlled) watches are the most widely sold, most popular G-Shocks selling these days.

These GA-B2100 variants have easily become my favorite G-Shock models. For those who like to mod their watches... these are a home run hit.

GW-BX5600 has landed from Japan - thanks to an absolutely awesome DHL driver, Oscar, who went way out of his way to help deliver and with a wonderfully kind and happy demeanor.

First impressions... smaller than I expected it to be on my wrist. And that's a nice thing, as I do not like oversize, bulky watches.

Of course watch photos almost always make watches look big and far more detailed than you ever see in person when wearing the watch.

Positive MIP display is good; razor sharp as expected - of course still not as quite as easily readable under dimmer lighting conditions as an excellent analog watch is, but digital is digital. It has its pros and its cons. There is the built in light, but I would only use that in near or total darkness. I'm still mostly an analog watch guy, but enjoying the G-Shock digital experience, as well.

The Find Phone feature is pretty cool - makes my iPhone ring with music quite loudly, even though I keep the ringer on Silent almost all the time. I will use that once in a while as I am not tethered to my iPhone.

I won't typically use the alarms, timers, stopwatch functions, but will make some use of the times in other zones feature.

The factory strap is pretty comfortable, though knowing myself - mods WILL happen with both strap and bezel. I just enjoy the fun of modding and do that with so many different things. I'm quite entertained with tinkering, tweaking, and modding.

What's interesting to me is that through my entire life, many decades, I've had no interest whatsoever in digital display watches - in fact I've always thought of them as quite unappealing. Something changed in me not long ago. And here I am having spent a bunch of money on four of them.

The digital G-Shock is undoubtedly an extremely popular time teller, to people all around the world. Oddly, it took me all these decades for the digital display G-Shock appeal to finally arise in me. Perhaps it was just my curiosity in rounding out my watch interest and understanding of the digital watch appeal.

New experiences => new knowledge => new understanding. They are nice, competent, utilitarian devices. I like them. I will be wearing them now and then.

My favorite watches, though, remain analog. My favorite G-Shock watches are also analog.

seeing the other Gshock posts makes me want to update/upgrade my gwm5610...It'd be cool if it would be a bit thinner and sleeker, I know the resin casing pops off...custom 3d printing time, maybe?
 
Not that this would be of any particular interest to anyone else, but what the hell - I like it. Colors matter and colors 'r' fun.

This watch that was, to my eyes, just too yellow with the rubber yellow band and bezel, has finally settled on a black silicon strap.

Now... it is "Bumblebee" 😆 And I think the black silicon strap will stay.

Spent the last couple days teaching radio comms to some high speed folks. The sort that don't put their pictures on social media, so this is what I got from the event. It took the rigors of training in the Sam Houston National Forest quite well.

Came across another enthusiast in the group too. I didn't catch the model, but it was a Certina Titanium Diver Chronometer. Sweet watch on the wrist of an operator. He recognized the Mido to start the conversation. "Dude, nice Ocean Star!".

If possible, I'd like to change the case / mod my GA-2110ET.

I tried Pac Parts, American Perfit, Casio, Ebay and Amazon. I think I'm using the wrong terms (?) in my search, as I can't seem to find similar parts that you've found.

First off... that's a great looking watch, Pops!

From what I can determine... 2100 bezels are fully compatible with the 2110. Search for GA-2100, GA2100, GA-B2100, GAB2100 and G-Shock 2100 bezels, using Google. And, you will also find these bezels on eBay and Amazon.

Thanks! Appreciate the link! They seem to be listing only the full metal, or metal and rubber parts.

It looks like they are sourcing their parts from the same company as the ones listed in Amazon. However Amazon has these listed at a lower price point.

I'd like to source the plastic case. Thanks again! ... 👍

Thanks! A friend sent this "G" to me when I picked up his "Save the Ocean" turtle. It was a really nice surprise, for sure.
