    I don't think they have any circuitry.. the control comes from the main unit. So you'd need some sort of regulator as well as the cells.

    You can solder up the pack of cells with a circuit that monitors as they charge. Think you need a specific charger though.

    By the way, if it's dead anyway, you can probably prise the ends off the pack you have and install new cells. Common ones are C sized, and are available with solder tags on the end! Thats what's inside my knackered Electron light.
