Re: L1D CE beamshots

Very nice!
By the way, you couldnt also post some lux readings for the rest of the lights to compare with the L1D. :)

Re: L1D CE beamshots (2/6, runtimes added)

Add runtime graphs. Nice rugulation of medium level!
Hi Lobo, the lux reading number of MKII and P1DCE were 716 lux and 2900 lux.

I knew that turbo and high wouldn't be regulated on an Alkaline cell. Pretty much impossible. I'm pretty sure though that they will have very nice flat regulation on NIMH and Lithium L91 cells.

Re: L1D CE beamshots (2/6, runtimes added)

Again, very nice! Don't think I've seen any runtime test on the new fenix's so far. The regulation on medium is really impressive, and the regulation on the other levels should be even better with Nimh. You seem to got a very good L1D, it looks very bright, congrats. :)
It would be nice of you, if you get hold on a L2D or can run the L1D at 3V, to post some more pictures and data. Thanks again.

Re: L1D CE beamshots (2/6, runtimes added)

I got 3.5h on high with eneloops in my L2Dce last night. They had been charged and rested for 24h. (They are 2000mah for those that do not have them) So I think that the their runtime estimates are pretty spot on, had I used my 2700mah Sanyos I would have gotten very near the 4.5h they state on the package for high.

Only about 1 hour on high mode, and reached 50% at 49 minutes. Kinda disappointed, was expecting 80 to 90 minutes to reach 50%.:thumbsdow

Did you use alkalines or nimh?

Lobo,
look the chart on post 1 and you'll see what I mean. Chao uses the arkaline for his test.

Ah, sorry, I thought you were telling us youre own numbers. :)
I agree that the runtime on alkas isnt that impressive, but these lights are more or less made to run on nimh, or at least they perform much better on them.

Re: L1D CE beamshots (2/7, runtimes added)

Add NiMH runtime in high level, got almost flat regulation!

Re: L1D CE beamshots (2/7, runtimes added)

Nice review !! Thank you....

But I am a bit surprise by your measures....I received my L1D-CE this morning and put a new Energizer Lithium in it..

I took my Luxmeter and here are my measures :

low level : 200 lux at 1 m
medium level 600 lux at 1m
High Level : 1100 lux at 1m
Turbo Level : 1 250 lux at 1 m

And my eyes can't see much difference between High and turbo levels...

How so much difference between two flashlights could exist ?

Any good explanations ?

Fifth time I try to post this now, but I refuse to give up! Damn server! Anyway, frenchy, you might want to check out this thread, post 15.

http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=151841

Allthough you and dwminer got pretty similar results, there could be a lot of reasons why Chaos light looks brighter.

@Chao, man that's good regulation on nimhs! Reminds me of the outstanding L2P!:D
Haven't decided yet whether to get the L1D or L2D, but looks very promising. Also waiting for Rexlights and Litefluxs offers, getting impatient though.

YEah.. thanks Lobo...good point !!

I think mine is fine.. and my measurements are correct and normal if compared to my other tests on some other flashlights ;)

Re: L1D CE beamshots (2/7, runtimes added)

Thanks for your lux reading, Frenchyled, although we got different number, but the ratio in different levels looks identical.
Hi lobo, thanks for the information, really usefull.
and if my L1D CE was compared with L2P (around 900 lux and it was read as 800 lux in FR,), it seems 2X brighter than L2P.

Re: L1D CE beamshots (2/7, runtimes added)

Thank you very much for the review!

Two considerations:

- on alkaline there is no full regulation
- runtime on alkaline is shorter than declared

Are the features declared by Fenix only referred to rechargeable batteries??

Any idea how well heat is handled in the L1D? Is it safe to run it for extended periods on high? By the amount of aluminum in the body I would suspect it is handled well but perhaps this can be confirmed?

Great info!

Were those LIR3.6 @ ~4.2V ?

It does not get more than lukewarm with an eneloop in it; nothing to worry about.
