Torn meniscus repaired 14 years ago. Was limping like a wounded animal before the arthroscopic surgery now I can hike, partake in heavy leg weight training and will say there is about a 100% improvement---however, my knee isn't the same as it was before surgery. I am now 56 years old and in good shape. I don't believe any surgery brings folks back to pre-injury levels although they may believe so. I am not and know many who agree with me for what that is worth. By the by, the "recovery" for me WAS NOT nearly as rapid as my surgeon indicated (4 weeks) and was more like 6-8 months before I could run without a fair degree of pain. I didn't have the multiple physical therapists, pain injections and associated "treatments" available to million-dollar football stars either.
