Lack of shared interest in my laser point by parents

I showed my laser pointer to my folks a few weeks ago. I was rather impressed at the throw outside in the country and indoors. My parents gave me both the story that it was only good for presentations. I told them how something more powerful could cut holes in the walls, pop ballons, etc. They then went on that they had no needs to pop balloons or cut walls, etc.

Man, so much for trying to share the fun.

Some people look at a piece of cool electronics and they just don't get it. Unfortunately coolness is in the eye of the beholder. Consider yourself to be one of the enlightened ones, Cobb...
