What's the difference between the z48 and the z58 switches?

What BigBaller said, plus the Z48 is larger and heavier.
The Z48 is my preference, over the Z58. Mainly for it's reliability. I've never seen a post about a failed Z48, Z49, or SW02, which all have the same internal parts. The Z58 and Z59 are "lite duty" clickie switches, as far as I'm concerned.
Why go to Ebay. I have the Surefiire C3-HA for sale HERE.
Also have the Z48 HERE.

Thats right I forgot that they're built different.. its a shame because I really like the standard compact design but I had to rethink getting another Z59 because I'm pretty sure it's what causes the glitching/flickering I experience with my C3.
I've heard of people removing the sleeve to make it more compact but wouldnt this make the exposed switch vulnerable? Anyone have a pic of an Sw02 or Z49 with the sleeve removed? And does it screw off or what?

The rubber shroud helps ensure that only deliberate activation of the switch is possible. Additionally, the shroud affords some extra protection against impacts, and allows "tail-standing" on flat level surfaces. The Z48/Z49/SW02 are build military-tough at the expense of size which is why the Z58/Z59 were demanded - to have a clickie TailCap with more reasonable dimensions.

In your second picture in Post #5, does the yellow G2 have a Z48 with it's rubber shroud removed; and likewise, does the green G2Z have an SW02 with it's rubber shroud removed??? If so, I didn't know that it looked like that underneath. It is also an interesting option if you want greater access to the "click switch"!!! Verrrrry interesting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What's your opinion of the result?

With the shroud remvoed it is possible to use these Clickies with the CombatGrip of the M3/M3T remembering of course that I wanted this option before the Z58/Z59 were released.
On the M4 the SW02's "ball" style is rather ergonomic in giving me a better quality grasp of the M4 in several different grip types. I prefer the unshrouded SW02 on the M4.

Once again, you expertise has opened up a whole new dimension in my thinking. I have been getting real upset over the 28% function rate of the Z58/Z59s that I have purchased thus far. I was looking for an alternative that worked. It is not that the Z58/Z59s don't work. Most of the time, they work on 2-battery lights. It is just that they usually do not work on 3-battery lights (especially the M3 variants) more than 28% of the time (in my experience thus far), and Surefire says that they are supposed to.
