maybe this has been asked before (desert island etc) but

if you had to choose 1 light, and never be able to change it, it can be repaired if it goes wrong, but not changed ever for another light, not even in 5 or 10 years when better technology is available,

which one would you choose?

id have to go with my novatac 120

small, reliable, very well built good output and runtimes,

and there is just something about the beam :bow:

sure multiple lights are fun, but i could probably get by with just the nt.

I would definitely keep my N30 since it is a high power HID searchlight in such a small and somewhat EDC-able size.

If this is about LED flashlights, it would for sure be my Coleman 530 lumen tri-star LED spotlight. It has a 2.5 hour runtime and is by far the brightest LED flashlight I have ever seen, and has been a very reliable light. Its build quality and construction is great IMHO.

Like Griff said, McGizmo Ti PD-S, although the LS20 would be just fine too.

That light doesn’t exist, but if it did it would have to have these characteristics:

- Fit in my hand like the Surefire E1L
- UI, and beam like a Novatac
- Efficiency of Fenix P2D
- Build quality and looks of RA Twisty

The new RA Clicky could be close with a tactical switch, but even then there will be things it cannot do.
 
I agree with you on the 120P, I've had one in my pocket every day for the last year and a half and I couldnt imagine being without it. The UI is perfect, the beam is perfect, the size and battery life is perfect. What more could you ask for? So I bought two more. You can never have too many! Oh, and that should be the motto here...:tinfoil:
 
Well I don't own one but I can't imagine the Surefire U2 not being a truly great and versatile light in nearly every situation.

New to this. Don't own many lights but of the ones I do, I'd choose my TK11.
 
If it's not limited to just LEDs, then I'd stick to my X990. Carryable, big but not overly, and just incredibly abundant light, both spill and focused.

If it's LED limited, then I'd stick to my Fenix L2DP. Right amount of combination of light, runtime and size.
 
My Seouled HDS can do almost anything I need from a light (even has an extender).

McGizmo PD-S would be great.

That said; if the SF Optimus can use li-ions and does what it looks like that would be the one.

Surefire 6P :)

If limited to LED, then most likely Surefire E1L, the current 2 level version.
 
Any of the McGizmos I own, I could live with for the rest of my life. Right now I'm pretty torn between the LS27 and PD-S, but I think the PD-S would win.

If I'm picking something cheaper, the Surefire A2 will very nearly do. I'll just have to hope that Surefire or some 3rd party keeps making bulbs.

Exactly the one I would choose! :thumbsup:

Enough power on high, the best UI I saw until now, with the diffuser it covers nearly every situation you may get in except enlighten a whole forest of course.

Yesterday I compared its high with the T10C2. OK, it is quite less, as expected, but the difference isn't as great as I hoped (for the T10C2).

The U2 is a light for life, why didn't I stop buying once it was mine?
 
Nitecore D10. Why? Freely adjustable output from very long lasting low to high enough for almost any situation. Quality finish solid construction and no clicky to wear down. AA format so batteries can be found virtually anywhere. Also fully supports NiMh's, lithiums and 14500.

After reconsidering a while, I changed my answer from D20 to D10. Although D20 is very good light D10 is my main EDC and won't be replaced in a long time..

Right now? It'd have to be...

- Pocketable size for EDC ...I have to have a light on me at all times.
- Have the ability to use easily obtained common battery types ...this one uses 5 different chemistries.
- Bright enough for lighting up the whole back yard when needed yet...
- go dim enough to walk about the house at night and check on the kids without waking them and...
- run for days an a single cell.
- Have multiple output settings for versatility and...
- have good runtimes to match.
- Have momentary capabilities.
- Lasting reliable build quality with a....
- proven no nonsense warranty.
- Have a clip for when needed.
- The ability to tailstand. ...love that!
- Anti-roll .. gotta have it!
- Waterproofness.

Additional bonuses not necessarily needed but enjoyed...

- Tail switch is nearly silent in function .. & won't wear out.
- Ability to use as a twisty or clicky.
- aggressive knurling for good grip.
- Lockout feature to avoid accidental activation.
- Reasonably priced, easily obtainable.

I get all this and more with my NiteCore D10. :thumbsup:
