I bought an STANLEY MAXLIFE 369 TRIPOD.

a couple of months ago, and i got a free keychain version for free.

I also just bought an ARC-P AAA and they are not cheap.

my comment is that the free keychain light has almost a pure white light for the led.

when my ARC-P at $40.00+ has an awful blue center.

it`s just funny that you can get a nice white led for nothing and when you pay a lot and get a crappy blue one.

life is a funny old thing.

regards.

Well... life is also full of choices. The Nichia CS LEDs that the current ARC AAAs use can take serious abuse. I have four lights that run a CS direct off of a LiON cell (4.2V!) and they pull about 170ma initially though the LED is supposed to be a 20ma LED.

The whitest 5mm LEDs we usually think are the Peak Snow29s which have had reports of premature deaths and I'm sure they aren't being driven anywhere CLOSE to 170ma.

There are a few sources fairly white 5mm LEDs (such as KevinL's 35k and 40k LEDs) and I'll admit that I've bought $.99 coin cell keychain lights from a drugstore that were whiter than the Nichias...

I guess if you're happy with the cheap lights, sell your ARC and be happy! Or you could sell the ARC and order a Peak light with the Snow 29 LED.
