Hi
Hope someone has used this driver and can tell me if i've wired it properly
It seems fairly basic, but i've wired 2 of them up and they won't work.

Hey -thanks for quick answers:)

I'll did check for the output voltage -nothing there.
From the site they say they are set at 3.5-3.7 so by rights it should light up.

Have tried both an AA and Li Rechargeable. Did muck with one of the potentiometers -but no joy.

I'll try one more driver.

Cheers

From KaiDomain it says:

2) 2AA: Output voltage select to 3.5v-3.7v

and:

Factory output voltage is selected as 3.5V-3.7V, select output voltage using a small "cross" screw driver by turning the voltage selection screw at the bottom of the circuit board

Are you using 2 AA's in series or just one to test this?

Edit: Oops, just noticed you tried a L-ion.

I hope you find a way to get these to work and then post what you did, cause I may pick some up.

It looks as if none of these will work -i'm up to my 4th one and still no luck.

Thought i might have overheated some parts while soldering but even with the most minimal amount of heat possible to stick the wires on -still no joy.
(have soldered many bFlex/maxFlex/RV7 with no problems)

Will try the last one today -but it doesn't look promising.

If i read their instructions properly -it looks like you can power these up with no LED connected?
If that is the case then i should be able to hook just the power wires up -leave the LED wires off and probe the LED wire holes with my meter to see if power is coming thru?

That is presuming i'm damaging something when soldering the LED wires on.

Well, I bought a 5-pack of these a while back and had 3 of them DOA. It could be that KD's quality control isn't doing there job. The wiring job you did looks good to me!

FWIW, I still have not received credit or replacements for the 3 dead boards and 2 mis-shipped Cree stars. Good luck!

Ahh -that is a bummer to know Firecop -do you know if you can test them without the LED connected?

Perhaps my last one will be good LOL

Ahha!
Think i may have found the problem.

After much checking with the meter have found that the neg on the power side isn't connected to the LED side neg. (rings around the perimeter)
Also the LED traces don't connect thru the board either.

That would probably explain why there was no power LOL
I've only just started on this last board and have found it's throwing out 3.75V out the LED side.

The others may be resurrected yet -yours too Firecop:)

More soon.

Well -i'd given up on these drivers but some guys came up with a simple fix.

Here is one thread here. This driver was from DX -virtually the same as the KD one.
http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=195993

I just did the fix to mine with a blob of solder to bridge the gap and it worked fine.

It stays in whatever setting you leave it when you turn it off .I'll be using it for a 1AA blinky light -perfect.
There are some very groovy blink modes in there.
