I'd wait for the reviews, seems a lot of the P7 lights on "that affordable website" have been rushed out the door and therefore have been hit or miss.

yeah marduke, you're right i should wait for a review to come thru.

But that copper pill looks interesting, the website even has pics of it!

The brand for the light is aurora, and it seems the brand is a little bit above the average affordable light in terms of both quality and price.

I couldn't help myself, just ordered mine. Heat wasn't a really big problem with mine, but I read somewhere that another model was too hot to handle after 15v minutes! I love the first one from DX so when this one comes in I'll have comparison pics up. Hope the copper/brass makes a difference.

That looks good. This is what it says about the heatsink.

"Copper based properly designed heatsink (Aurora claimed)"

That could mean a solid copper heatsink, or it could mean something else.

Thee pill seems to be solid copper in the pics.

I dont think they'll go thru the hassle of plating a alu pill with copper? would be as expensive and time consuming exercise as just using copper.

Yes aluminum can be copper plated. In fact this is one step in the application of chrome to aluminum. Chrome will not stick to aluminum. Copper does and then they apply nickle and then chrome The results of this process look great!!

Can it even be done?

While its copper base sink looks good, its thin cable is not:-(

I guess many of these light makers didn't realize feeding 2.8A requires higher gauge cable.

I was waiting for the DX P7 for about two weeks now and finally changed my order today to the Aurora P7. So I will be getting this light instead by next week. The 18650 batteries and charger is coming in a few days as I ordered them with the DX P7. Here is hoping that the Aurora P7 is a better built light compared to the first MTE P7 light.

I just noticed another model that came out, The Aurora AK-P7 5-mode. sku 12809. $62. actually has some nice specs, if they are accurate. This might seal the deal for me....

LED Tint: SXO - slightly cool white, neutral tint is SWO - not a biggie. When I compare XO to WO A-B the XO looks white, the WO looks yellow.

Voltage & Current (DC Power Supply)
- 3.7V
~250mA (low) > 62.5mA/die > 4x25 > ~100 LED lumens > 70-80 torch lumens
~700mA (Mid) > 175mA/die > 4x65 > ~260 LED lumens > 180-200 torch lumens
~2000mA (High) > 500mA/die > 4x162 > ~648 LED lumens > 450-518 torch lumens
- 4.2V
~290mA (low) > 72.9mA/die > 4x30 > ~120 LED lumens > 84-96 torch lumens
~800mA (Mid) > 200mA/die > 4x75 > ~300 LED lumens > 210-240 torch lumens
~2300mA (High) > 575mA/die > 4x180 > ~720 LED lumens > 500-575 torch lumens
So much for the 960 lumen claim. Still 500 lumen dropping to 450 lumen is twice that of the brightest current Fenix (225 lumen).

These are very rough estimates. I did not extrapolate jtr1962 charts, just rounded up or down by eye. I figure 70-80% light transmission through the optics. As there are no claim of AR coated/UCL lens I think the lower number may be more accurate.

Hi all,

And about this one : TrustFire SSC P7-C 900-Lumen LED Flashlight (2*18650/17670)

as it is powered by 2 * 18650 it should be an advantage ???

JP
In theory twice the run time, you have doubled the watt/hours, Vf does not change. If it uses a driver it can be efficient, if it uses resistors it burns off the extra power. Either way you do get a longer run with it.:p

(Why am I answering LED questions? I am an incan guy! This P7 has given me an identity crisis! I have been dazzled by the light.:caution:)
