How do I upgrade old Orb NS to current LED?

I have a couple of year old Raw NS, that I believe used a Luxeon LED. It's the older 80 lumen version. However, it would be nicer at 160. Is there a direct, package compatible swap? If so, what should I buy? I'm a good solderer, so that's not an issue. I just need to know which LED to buy, and which bin code is the whitest and brightest.

Thanks.

You can send it back to Rob at Orb for an upgrade. Can't remember the cost for this. It's best to send it back because he replaces the reflector as well. The original one does not work well with Crees and such.
I guess you could try a straight swap yourself and if it doesn't go too well you could send it back to Orb anyway.

Good luck with the ORB :grin2:
Rob is a good guy! Have you considered the Al version of the Raw Ns?
He also has blue and green trintium locators!!!

I forgot to say that SSCs are a bit thinner than Luxeons, so you need a thermally conductive spacer. There are some on sale for the explicit purpose of retrofitting old luxeon lights, if I remember correctly the sandwich shoppe has them.
