guys and gals....

i need an LED bulb that has awesome throw for my G2L and G3.....

I worked a detail the other night and did not like the throw of the G2L....

I am thinking some sort of Malkoff drop in...which one?

Thanks

The plastic bodied G2 style lights cause thermal problems with any of the higher output drop in modules, unless you only use the lights for a few minutes at a time. Any of the Malkoffs with the 8 degree are good throwers, but the dereelight modules will out throw the malkoffs considerably.

If he has a newer G2L, then it will have an aluminum head, so a full output malkoff module (or dereelight dropin) would work fine. Something like a malkoff M60L or M60LL might work for the G3.

In that case, a dereelight dropin (either 1SD or 3SD for multiple modes) with a smooth reflector will give you the most throw. The malkoff will probably have a more useful beam pattern overall with slightly less (not sure how much exactly) throw.

Get the M60W. Many people here report the "Warm" version to be better for throw due to less "gray-out" at distance.

The best throw you will get would be a Dereelight drop-in with a smooth reflector. But if you need a smooth beam, the Malkoff drop-in would be the better choice.

Go for the neutra white tints if you would like warmer tints then most white LEDs (tint is between normal white LED and incan).
