Dorcy 41-4299 malfunction

I received this light for my birthday on Friday and after I got it all charged up and ready to go for dark, the thing pooped out on me after about a minute. I checked the battery with a voltmeter, all was good. I double checked the polarity, I checked the LED, I checked it all...maybe it just didn't like me, who knows. All 4 leads from the LED looked to be fine, but there was what appeared to be a large burn mark on the back of the reflector.:thinking: I'm not so sure how or why that happened, wouldn't the LED have been in pretty rough shape if it had blown? I've never heard of that happening before, any input on what it could have been? I spoke with Dorcy today and they didn't offer much input as to why this could have happened. I shipped it out today and Amazon is shipping me a new one, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the new one will arrive sans problems! Until then, my UCl lens is sitting impatiently waiting to be dropped in!
