"With a light-emitting surface of just 17-mm in diameter, the array has the optical characteristics of a point light source." - I lol'd. Very cool idea, though, and with CRI possible in the low 90s. For general lighting, it's close enough, since the typical "spot" requires neither laser-tight focus nor needs to cross any vast distances.
Would be interesting to experiment with, if only dimming were easier for the hobbyist than the usual 0-10V that most variable drivers use.
