[SOLVED] What Maglite do I have?

I found my old D-cell Maglite in the attic, and have gotten it in my head that I want to convert it to LED. I don't have any D cells in the house though and do not know whether this light is a 3D or a 4D. How do I find out?

(On Maglite's anatomy page, both the 3D and 4D are claimed to be 31.3cm.)

3D is about 31,5 cm long just measured

A 3D it is then. Just noticed that even though Maglite's specs in millimeters are the same for the 3D and 4D, the measurements in inches do differ. A simple mm-inch conversion also pointed at this being a 3D.

The first number in the serial number is the number of cells that the light takes.
