Thought it might be interesting to see what people would like in an EDC flash light using technology likely to exist in the next 5-10 years or so. So no hand held self defense lasers, ok? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I'd like:
<ul type="square">[*]Fuel cell power. Someone (Sony?) is already planning these for notebooks in the next year or two.
[*]Power meter. I'd like the light to watch how much energy has been extracted from the power source, then give me an estimated run time at the current brightness level.
[*]User programmable. The manufacturer would provide the hardware and a standard API (application programmer interface).
[*]Builtin beam spreader / color filters.
[*]Ambient brightness sensor. My dash lights do it.. why not my flashlight? The light would adjust to ambient brightness, so it's always "bright enough".
[/list]
(Moderators: This is Arc related in that I'd like to see some of these show up on future Arc models. I'll understand it you want to move / delete it though.)
