Can i put in a royal blue 3w luxeon star from lumileds just unsolder the leads and resolder???? Im very new at this but i want a blue bright luxeon so I figure this is a easy way just want to know if i can use a Luxeon III or do i have to use a 1watter ??? Thnks in advanced!

I'm sure it's safe to replace a 1W Luxeon with a Luxeon III. However, without knowing exactly what light you are referring to modding I can't say whether it's just a matter of unsoldering and resoldering, but that is the basic idea. Make sure that you the new star is properly heatsinked and centred, and that you get the polarity right and you should be fine.

It'd be better if you could post more information about the light you are modding just to make sure.

Its the streamlight luxeon 3aa tasklight. with a 1 w luxeon star easy to get to the star and unsolder.
