Here's a deal I thought I would post here for CPFers who might be interested in satellite radio.

Get a Kenwood KTC-H2A1 or Audiovox SIR-PNP2 + docking kit for $49 when you commit to a six-month subscription.

EXPIRES September 30, 2004

Go online to https://home.sirius.com/shop/starthere.asp
and type in promotional code 101

On the screen where you choose either the home or car kit, after you choose which equipment you will buy (recommend audiovox) you must enter the referring SIRIUS employee's work email address for verification. Enter the following email address:

[email protected]

The promotional ID "siriusbackstage" (without quotes) will also work.

You will have to order at least 6 months prepaid using this deal. For 50 bucks however, it's a great deal. You'll be spending at least $120 probably closer to $150 for the same equipment on ebay, and $160 is most other retail and internet outlets. I just did this right before making this post and everything went smoothly.

In the end after the 9.99 shipping, the service fee for 6 months service, taxes, and the $5 activation fee, your total cost will be somewhere around $145 to $150... not bad considering you'd normally have to pay that much just for the receiver and car adaptor alone.

Similar deals can be found for xm satellite and delphi roadys as well if you look hard enough. I had xm for a couple months and didn't like the playlists on the stations.. to many unknown alternative/non mainstream bands played on the "top tracks" and "hard rock" stations.. after listening to hair nation among other rock stations on sirius with dish network I was hooked. I'm a talk junkie too, so when I'm not listening to talk shows or CNBC, I want to hear hits without having to search for them. Also, Sirius bought the rights to broadcast the audio of every NFL game for 7 years... that's a good deal considering there won't be any additional monthly fee to hear the games.
