I am thinking about hacking my TWOKsabre 3 "D" down to a 1 "D" sized tube and then purchasing a 2x2- 4 "AA" adaptor for it. My questions regarding this are:
1. Where do I find a good adaptor?
2. Do I need to take the recently soldered package out of the light in order to cut it down, or can they do it while still fully intact?
3. Will 4 "AA" be too many volts for a LUX III DD? If so what is the standard fix to this problem?
4. And lastly...Where in SoCAL could I possibly find somebody who cuts aluminum and rethreads it? What would be the title of this person?

The answer to almost all of these is modamag. He recently did a group buy on cut-down mags and bored out mags. He is also selling a (4) AA to (1) D adapter. I would think that you would definitely want to remove the package from the light and ship just the tube. For the voltage - check out modamag's direct drive reference sheet:
web page
If needed you could use a step down converter or a dummy battery to get the power to work out.
Good Luck,
Chris
