Has anyone gotten the head off of a Gerber LX 1.0 successfully? It seems phsycally identical to the LX 3.0 and I'm wondering if something simple like shorting the resistor and maybe swapping the LED might not convert it?

Forget it. When we first got our LX3 lights in stock, my son Christopher "quality tested" it on granite rocks in Southern Missouri. He is five and it survived. I tried vice grips on it for grins. Not a chance. I am not saying it is impossible, but it must be an art I have no talent in.

I would like to get the head off my LX3 as well. I wonder if heat would help soften whatever is holding that head so tightly. I might try boiling it like a Q3.
