What should the voltage read on New Lithium Primary CR123A cells?

Thanks

In my experience the unloaded voltage on new cells is in the 3.2V to 3.3V range. I can't recall measuring any higher than 3.3v or lower than about 3.1V.

Thanks you, I just bought a new 2 cell xenon light and the cells read 2.92V. I thought the color was a little off. :thanks:

My latest Surefires are 3.25V. I saw lots of 3.15-3.19V "new" CR123As straight out of the package last year.

Cells at 2.92V (rested, @23C) are probably 20% used or so.

Discharge voltage will depend on the load you put on the battery. The higher the load, the more the voltage will sag.

If you mean at what voltage is the cell considered at? It all depends on what your using the cells in! The SF U2 has built in low voltage cutoff which is said to be just over 3.0V. If you were using 2xCR123s, I guess that it would drop to 1.5V per cell. I have a U2 but never used CR123s in it only Li-Ion cells.

I've mentioned this point in several threads lately about my Fluke 189 DMM that uses AA batteries but shows a low battery icon at 1.2105V/cell which means the cells aren't really being depleted fully!
