I have an AmiLite T5 for EDC on the way (left Seoul on a plane this morning!), and I would like to acquire some way to carry an extra battery in my pocket.

I only need to have 1 extra battery available. Are there any issues with carrying the 123A battery by itself in a pocket, along with a pocketknife?

If for some reason this is not a good idea, are there battery cases available that will hold only 1 battery?

Thanks!

Look for keychain pill carriers. That's what I use. Mine is made of plastic, fits 1x 123A perfectly, and is water tight. Aluminum and other metal ones are fine too as long as it is longer than the 123A battery so no contact is ever made with both positive and negative nodes at the same time. Rite-Aid, CVS, etc. may have them. Search online too. Some can be very pricey, but you should be able to find some that are under $5.

I know you only want to carry one, but the Kodak Advantix film canisters (oval shape) will carry two with really no wasted space. And, you can get one for free at some film processing places. The Fuji brand won't work.

I really like the plastic canisters that Orb use to sell, that can be find here:

Orb CR123a plastic tube at Lighthound

BUT, I've learned that something better then carrying just 1 CR123a is carrying another 1 CR123a Flashlight! How about carrying another light instead of just another battery source, you get 2 things in one! Just off the top of my head, Fenix P1D CE, McLux PD, Amilite T3, SF E1L?? Just a thought.

Film canisters are great for carrying all sorts of things. I try to keep hold of them, especially now they are less common with the switch to digital.

For two 123 batteries I like this tube made by Jil.

For one battery, I like to carry a Fenix P1

I also favor the drugstore pill containers. I found a nice aluminum can at CVS for $4.

WooHoo! I'm not OP, but that is exactly what I've been looking for.

Thanks

Flying Turtle,

Thank you for this suggestion. You're right - 2x123 will fit snugly (no rattling!) with very little wasted space. Works great!!
