#0201 is in da house!

Data, you have really out done yourself. Really, how in the heck are you gonna improve for your next light?

I really cant add anymore than whats already been said. This light is soooooooo freaking nice it is rediculous. Seriously. I wanted to wait to comment so I could use it in the dark in the back yard. The beam is a perfect balance between flood and throw. Lotta light in a small package, thats right folks, not only is it beautiful it works great!!! It hits the bat-house effortlessly. :naughty:

The tint is nice too, pure white with a slight vanilla taste.

I have set my lowest level to ultra low, and my second level to low. The way you can tweak all the levels is freakin awesome. The switch is buttery smooth as described with a nice click into each level.

I guess my only quirk about the 007 is it is a tad heavy. But the fact that this is a chunk, and I mean a chunk, of Ti makes up for the weight. I wouldnt want to pocket this in a pair of gym shorts, you know when your wearing gym shorts and something heavy is in the pocket and the pocket swings below the shorts when you walk? (Well I do.) This may happen. But with jeans or khakis and the like, your good to go!

Now the only question.... To trit or not to Trit? I have Nroland61 and 2 bright green vials....

Bottom line, this is worth every bit of the $300 I paid!!!!

My new sigline is permanent, I'm that proud. :twothumbs

You could put the trit in with clear finger nail polish. Easy to clean up and or take back out if you want to change colors later.

Nice! I was debating on whether to get trits or not. Makes the decision easier. What's the best way to install with the nail polish? Put the trit in and pour the nail polish over it, filling in the slot? Or small dabs of nail polish on the ends of the trit spot gluing it in place?

Now which color on the otherhand, is not as easy decision. Although green is always the brightest.

Many thanks guys, I really appreciate it. It was and is a long road. . .

I want to comment on the gym shorts, a very sticky subject to be sure!:whistle::grin2: So here is the scoop, the naturally sticky nature of the o-ring can grab the inside of your pants pocket and turn the light on. A loose pocket like in the gym shorts makes it even worse.

If you are going to EDC the 007 in your pocket, take the o-rings off! It is just that simple. To date I have never had the light come on in my pocket without the o-rings on the light.

Please check my STFu sticky thread, there is new info at the bottom.

Cheers
Dave

Put the trit in the slot and use a needle to pick up a very small amount of polish and dab it at each end. Less is more. :) This works here only because the slots in the SPY are, by their local, very protected.

I have one yellow and one blue in my old 005. :tinfoil:

Wow that's a nice tip. Once the trit is "glued" in place with the nail polish, how can you safely remore it? And will it leave the slot perfectly clean or will you have to actually run something in it to remove all the polish?

Thanks for the details, I might well give it a try! But I don't want something sticky in the slots that I can't remove clean...

Nail polish remover a.k.a. pure acetone will dissolve the nail polish and it will wipe right out, if there is anything left.

And titanium is impervious to acetone. (along with most other metals). But keep acetone away from anything plastic, especially clear plastic. You should see what acetone does to styrofoam cups. ;)

Per Darell... Use white iridescent polish to lightly coat the bottom and sides of the opening and wait for it to dry. Then place trit and "pour" Norland 61 (or similar) over all to the top of the cavity.

I said I wasn't really interested in this, being a 2 cell light and no clip. But D responded to the clip part earlier today. My excitement is growing daily. My only concern is in missing the first wave and the having the next wave mostly filled by the runner ups from the 60 second madness posting frenzy in the first wave. All that means I might not get in until the third wave...

I'm really looking forward to a comprehensive review from the first 27. What kind of emitter? What are the exact dimensions? How heavy is it? Will you EDC and what did it replace? How waterproof is it? Can I dunk it? Swim with it? Will you sell yours so I can hold it in my hot little hands?

I've actually got the forum link on my iPhone homepage so I can check it 3 or 4 times a day. Sickness!

0212 clocked in today :twothumbs

What a beauty!

I pressed the end of a Thorpe Hex wrench against some cut-off mouse-pad
to open the battery compartment

(The size of the end of the hex-wrench is the same as that which removes
the Ti hex-screws for the PD.)

Having never had a SPY of any kind before, I was expecting something
much bigger.

Its surprising how compact it is for a 2-cell light.

No wonder everyone is so delighted with this series and the 007 model
especially.

easilyled,

All lights that went to Europe did not have batteries. It is hard to get the battery cap off without batteries in the light. The spring pushing on the bat is what normally pops off the cap when you push the release pin.

So, you will have to push the pin and hold the body and pull the battery cap off all at the same time. Easy if you have three hands!

Thanks Data, I managed without too much difficulty once I realised
that it needs to be pushed in quite a lot (without batteries)

SPY 007 #0226 is now in my possession. :)

A bit larger and quite a bit heavier than I thought it would be, but then again, I'm used to carrying a very tiny torch, thanks to you, Rob. ;)

Love love love the tint of the Seoul P4 in my SPY 007. Which bin and tint is it? It's THE whitest white LED I have. Everything looks blue, green, or yellow in comparison.

I've taken a few pics, mostly Macro shots, since everyone has posted nice full body pics already.

48 hour update.

After carrying the Spy007 for two days, I must admit it is less noticable in my pocket than I thought it would be. Wearing my Tad Gear cargoes, it fits perfect in the inner coin pocket in my main pocket, keeps it vertical. I wore slacks to work today at work, I carried the Spy with no problem.

I installed two green trits with clear fingernail polish so it wouldnt be permanent, thanks for the tip Data.

Edwood, I agree, the tint is damn perfect, white with a lil vanilla. Reminds me of my UV1J PD.

I cant help but take the Spy out of my pocket at least twice an hour to admire it, I dont know if the "Honeymoon" phase will ever end!

Has anyone taken the battery cap off and taken the batteries out and just look (Read: Admire) at the machining? My goodness what a great job. The innards of the battery cap are amazing. The battery tubes are so silky smooth, and the walls are nice and thick. I imagine these would also make good wheel chocks. (Credit goes to McGizmo for that line!)

The way I have my levels, when you click through all six levels in one smooth motion, it looks seemless like the Titan.

One more thing, it seems my knob is breaking in and getting more buttery. It could be my imagination.... :)

Oh, and be careful with the battery cap. It popped open on me once into my lap (nearly had a heart attack). And when I put the cap back on, it wouldn't power up at all. I tried to take the cap off, but it wouldn't "spring" off. Had to pull on it. Then I discovered why it wouldn't turn on, the battery spring had fallen off and was on the floor. Popped it back in, and everything is right as rain.

But yeah, I won't be changing batteries while walking around on the streets.

Dave, I love your "Packaging" for the SPY 007. THE most functional packaging I've seen. Our packages could've been dropped in the ocean and run over with a truck, no problem.

Perhaps you can have a custom foam insert cut for these Pelican 1010 cases? Perhaps with some holes cut for spare CR123 batteries as well? 2-4 might just fit.

Anyways, I'm feel like I have OCD, constantly flicking it on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on and off and on........

:D
