thanks for your answer Dave,

What would you recommend for 2x cr123 or 2xli ion?

im looking for an xp-e2 at 1.5a or even better 1.7a (short burst)

Thank for you help

Hi

First off I don't have any XPE2 at this time. I have some XPG2's but not the other. If XPG2 will do then I suggest the 3.6 -16 volt single level and your choice of tints. You will not find any 9 volt 3 levels that are 1.7 amps.

Hi NB, I have a problem with my drop-in.

It's the XR-E R2 offering with 8d optic, 3 lvl L/M/H.

nothing happens when click the switch

running it in a 6P w clicky tailswitch.

--

if i had to suggest something from my usage, id say there may be a contact issue with that large outer spring. i cut it down significantly, to just one loop sitting in the groove. any troubleshooting i can do re contacts

Hi

So what has changed, since this module is a year and a half old you need to determine what you are doing different since modules just don't quit working after a year

If you have changed hosts and it works in the other host then I would say it is a host problem or as you say a outer spring problem although one ring is most of the time enough for a Non bored 6P.

Just not enough info for me to help but as I said they don't just quit working so you need to back track a bit and see what you are doing different after it working for over a year.

thanks for prompt response.

it has been sitting in storage for some time, rarely used.

pulled it out again and didnt work.

not sure what details i can provide for troubleshooting.

its unbored. ill try using some tin foil to augment the contacts.

EDIT:

major breakthrough. by wrapping the batteries in tin foil, manged to get the module to work.

i would still like to find a way to not require tinfoil.

Hi Dave! Will the regulated XM-L driver go into direct drive when the voltage drops below 2.8v or will it shut off?

Hi

All my have low voltage warnings, NONE will go into direct drive and if you are using li ions you should never use one that goes direct drive since li ions should not be ran below a certain voltage.

HI

I still don't understand, I am sure it was not put into storage immediately on receipt with out checking to see if it worked. Was it in the same host as when checked 1.5 years ago when it did work.

What host are you using it in and what batteries. Is it a stock lamphead or a aftermarket lamphead. If you cut the spring too short then it will not make contact with the positive end of the battery.

You must just be wrapping the diameter of the batteries or else they would short out so why are you wrapping them do they not fit the host. Have you tried putting a bigger spring since you cut the spring down. Again you gave me No information to try to supply you with an answer other than we now know the modules works as designed once you used the foil in someway.

Modules don't just act up after working when received no matter how long stored, something must have changed in host or batteries or something.

Re: P60 modules -warm, neutral, cool white/XRE-XPE-XPG-S2-XML-U2 / P60 modules (part

some specific details:

Surefire 6P
unbored
CR123 primaries (foursevens)
some overready mods:
mcclicky tailswitch
custom bezel ring
glass lens
-----

again i said i managed to make it work by wrapping the cell in a 'sleeve' of tin foil, with some foil sticking out the front, probably accomplishing whatever function the larger outer spring of the module used to accomplish before i cut it.

im guessing i may have cut the spring(s) down a little too much trying to make a seamless connecton between the 6P host head/body.

running on that assumption:

1. do you have details on the outer spring (so i can find it in a hardware store).

2. what can i do about a short(er) inner spring, in the scenario that i cut it down too much.

--

your module has been in storage for about 12 months. using an M61 in the meantime. pulled the NB out again because i want the LMH for my current tasks.

i can provide pics if necessary

Hi

Now that you have told me a bit more I would say that the problem is that you cut the inner spring. If you read the back of my mailing tubes it tells you to cut the outer spring to close the gap on the head no the inner spring. A 6 P will run fine with one ring of the outer spring but if you cut the inner spring that is definitely the problem. Best clue was when you said you let it stick out the front.

A few choices, buy some rare earth magnets and put one or two on the front of the battery (+end). Replace the inner spring with proper size.

HI

Looks like you cut too much off the outer spring.

If you don't mind please delete a couple of the pictures as it really eats up space.

Ok , Paypal sent for one module with the Platinum Dragon Hyper-Red led , driven at 1 amp (or even a little bit higher if possible) with 3 levels output , potted electronics and a smooth reflector , if the beam is horrible you can switch to a OP reflector!
Standard shipping for 5 dollar , so 45 dollar, correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks!

GJR:wave:

Received the module this morning , I love it , real red from this emitter and the build quality is top notch!
Thanks Dave!

Hi

I can't PM you since you don't have 3 posts, it takes 3 posts for the mods to vet you and you can PM.

PP is sales at customlites dot com and you can also go to the site via the link in my sig line for most modules.

thanks
