Let's suppose I keep the Olight cells….what new Olight would you get to use them?
I wouldn't. I don't like their lights and don't really know any of the models. Plus I think they always come with a cell. I was only really joking saying to always buy more flashlights! The only light I'd consider is the baton 4 premium, because I like the idea of it with the case. But it uses a different cell

Gotcha. I have a tiny Olight that I used to carry on my keychain. That's it though. I was just looking for an excuse to buy a new light. I'll just return them. Downside is that Battery Junction charges a 15% restocking fee.

Live and learn. I also have an Olight keychain light. An i3e eos. For a AAA light it's pretty nice, but it doesn't see much use

Thanks for pointing this out. I don't know if the Fraz has adjustable battery length.
I'm pretty sure the 18350 QT-SS is very similar to the 18650 (the model I have). The website doesn't show a picture of the tail, but it should have the adjustable tail feature. Perhaps @speckacuda can confirm?

It's also recommended to get the tool or 3D print one out to adjust the tail. I've seen pliers do terrible things to the finish on the tail.

Thanks so much. Great advice!

I have the stainless steel QT- L; really nice and quite a bit heavier than the aluminum version.

Why don't you talk about Fraz lights on that thread?
Glad to hear it is nice. Can't wait to get mine. Which thread are you referring to?

I own two Arkfelds and I always have one in my pocket as part of my EDC. Very convenient for me and I like the flatter profile of the light in the pocket. They are just bright enough for my daily indoor use.

Just going to add, as i'm tired of the no-evidence Olight bashing, that the Warrior X4 is (IMO) the best "Tactical" light currently made...

It's not that there isn't evidence for it, it's that Olight has been unwilling to change the things which are bad until there's been bad enough backlash for it. No-one's saying that all of Olight's flashlights are steaming piles of manure, Olight produces and has produced many solid lights, but the crux of the matter is that there have also been flashlights which have been outright hazards and instead of Olight rectifying the matter right away in the next model they've run with it until there's enough complaints it can't be ignored.

Just to reuse an old analogy; if a car manufacturer creates a car where the bolts holding the tyres on are known to start coming loose on one tyre on model after model and the company doesn't redesign the system to make sure it doesn't happen until some people have lost their tyres completely and ended up in the ditch then that company doesn't care about the customer more than the money. This is before taking the advertising into account, this is just about the inherent safety hazards which have been present for years before this and which have been ignored by Olight as a company.

That's an incredible light. Personally I like the warrior 3s a bit more, but it's more of the perfect edc light than full tactical. Has the same tail switch but also has more modes via the side button. But the beam of the x4 is incredible

Ok. They had some issue. If you'll notice, their high output lights have proximity sensors that automatically turn down if they're in a pocket. The auto turn on has been fixed. Turbo modes all have timed step down now which sucks. But they won't burn anyone anymore. There were issues and they were dealt with and improved on. Yes, it took a lawsuit to do it. So does every big company when there's issues. Bad things happen, and they were fixed

It took a lawsuit to do this. They had to be threatened to actually correct dangerous design flaws. This isn't made better because others do it as well, it just means the company doesn't care about the product and customer in these areas and needs to learn from it.

I own around 10 Olight flashlights, i don't hate them, but i recognise that they and the company aren't angels in what they do. The issue comes if the shortcomings aren't dealt with and keep affecting people until it goes so far as to be dangerous. Just to make a comparison i have several Emisar and Noctigon flashlights, i own the original Emisar D4 as well as the following models. If something turned out to not work they were redesigned before the next batch got released, if an issue came up you got support for that issue, the flashlights themselves are potentially way more dangerous than any Olight could ever hope for but using the Kaizen principle safeguards have been put in place, safeguards which aren't a late bandaid for issues which the company knew about and didn't fix.

You can try to downplay this all you want, but it doesn't change the fact that Olight has had blunders and instead of listening to customer feedback they had to be strongarmed into doing what's right.
