La Crosse Technology BC1000 reviews? Experiences?

On 7/9/2012 at Amazon: BC700 is $34 BC1000 is $60 For $26, you get: 4 AA 4 AAA 4 C spacers 4 D spacers To buy at Amazon, these would cost $37. To me, that's a no brainer, as I need both the batteries and spacers.

Cabelas XPG X-TREME LI Flashlight (500 Lumen)

That's irritating. The G&P Scorpion is $100. I don't have $100 to spend on the light right now. However, I do have $120 in Cabela's credit, making the scorpion rebrand only $10 out-of-pocket. Yet, I still feel like I'm getting ripped off by $30, which will prevent me from doing it. In the...

Disappointed w Maglite 2D. Any quick upgrades?

In some of the instruction-based posts, it is recommended not to use two 3AA/1D adaptors in series -- only use a 6AA/2D adaptor. Any truth to this? Would it be better to just get a 8AA/2D adaptor from sandwich shoppe and use two dummy cells? Definitely more expensive this way. Perfect! Yeah...

Disappointed w Maglite 2D. Any quick upgrades?

Thanks for the suggestions. Not interested in LED, plus it's a 40 Euro mod (~$54 USD). Yikes! Don't want a mod that required CR123. Batteries are just too expensive. The ROP is also fairly expensive at $65+, but it sounds promising ... if you could actually do it! 6AA to 2D battery...

Disappointed w Maglite 2D. Any quick upgrades?

Searching doesn't work for this topic: can't search on "2D" because it's too short of a search term. Can't search on maglight because, for some reason, people don't spell it out. Ends up being M@g, M*g, etc. Makes it difficult to search for! Anyway, bought a 2D yesterday, my first real...

Cabelas XPG X-TREME LI Flashlight (500 Lumen)

Any news on this light? 500 lumens in a rechargeable package is just what I'm looking for. At $130, it seems like a great deal ... esp. since I have a bunch of Cabela's points built up. Not much excitement here, which concerns me. Typically, when a new 200+ lumen light comes up, there are 15...

    SL TL-3 help needed

My ~2 year old TL-3 also just started having intermittant failures. This light has seen very, very limited duty and was only on its second set of batteries. No rough usage at all. I put in a set of new batteries and noticed no light. Tried the old batteries, that I knew still had some juice...

    What's the best bargain?

Re: What\'s the best bargain? cy and Firefly, You seem to assume that since I'm new here, that I'm new to the hobby of flashlights. Similarly, you seem to think that just because I think Surefire's prices aren't the most reasonable, that I don't A) have one and B) value them. In fact, I have...

    What's the best bargain?

Re: What\'s the best bargain? There is no way that SureFire lights are a bargain. Great lights? Yes. Great performance? Yes. Reasonable prices? Not in a million years. You can make lots of arguments about the value proposition behind surefire. However, this post was supposed to be about...

Which is brighter, Princeton Tec 40 or the Rage?

Re: Which is brighter, Princeton Tec 40 or the Rag Just wondering if there's a reason why you're not also considering the Surge? It's an 8 AA light that is the brightest non-lithium light I've ever seen. It puts out an insane amount of light and is waterproof.

    What's the best bargain?

Re: What\'s the best bargain? I can't believe no one has mentioned the Princeton Tec Surge. This thing is amazing. Runs off of 8 AA batteries (can also be used with 4 AA batteries). It's amazingly bright. Should cost between $20 - $25. It's completely waterproof. For that price and for the...

Why are so few 5W lights flood lights?

What about Browning? Browning sells a Black Ice version 6V 5W flashlight. It runs off 2 Li batteries and is quite small and light. I have no idea as to the quality, though most Browning gear is pretty good. Don't know who manufactures the light for them, either. Anyway, lists for $156 and...
