    Emergency House/Car Flashights

Agree on 2xAA - I have one in every car glovebox along with a few AA lithium backup batteries... In that vein, I just picked up a few olight t25 lights for $25 each. Up to 250 lumens, or 100+ hour run time at 15 lumens. 3 modes plus a ridiculous flashing mode available sequentially thru...

*NEW* Fenix CL25R camping light,micro-usb rechargeable, max 350 lumens

I really like this lantern! Used it to illuminate the undercarriage of my son's truck while we installed a hitch yesterday - lower mode was perfect for a daytime install in a garage. Magnet is very strong - easily held light upside down from the chassis. Already worth the cost for me - much...

    1000+ lumen, 2x18650 recommendtion

I don't have a barracuda, but just bought a predator pro. I'm VERY impressed with the armytek light. The physical battery protection (springs), the quality of finish, the weight, tint, beam quality - all outstanding, in comparison to my zebralight, fenix, EagleTac, olight and foursevens lights...

    What happened to FourSevens?

When I first started buying "nicer" lights, I bought a few foursevens. As others have expressed, many had problems - such as the bright flash when turning on the light in moonlight mode. I've not purchased a light from them in maybe 2 years, as they are relatively expensive (which I'm willing to...

    Need 3 Simple Flashlights Recommendations

For the car, you want reliable but not full featured (or at least an interface that everyone can figure out). I like the fenix e21 for that - two modes, button to turn on and twist head for low/ high. Takes 2 aa. For house, I want something with momentary on - for the "bump in the night"...

New favorite small EDC - EagleTac D25A Mini

The referenced thread was one that I started; I didn't bother sending my D25A back to Hong Kong given the value of the light. I've found that the mode change seems to work if I pull on the head as quickly as I can - e.g. just blink it off and back on, rather than twisting off then back on...

Need a light for my elderly (70+) parents

The Fenix e11 is another option. 1 aa with a forward clicky and a bright low mode so even if they don't tighten the head it is still useful. E21 (2aa) is another similar option. Both of these lights are well below your budget...

Vote - What is your favorite form factor?

Interesting question... I'm probably the wrong person to answer, but I can't resist ringing in. My first reaction is single AAA - I'm always amazed at small lights, and I love single AAA form factor lights. The IlluminaTi and LD01, for instance, are well made and put out (relatively) so much...

D25A Mini - no longer changing modes

I've had it for nearly 6 months, so I don't consider it a dealer issue. If it had died a week after I received it, I would view it differently... What do you guys consider the "statute of limitations" for a problem to be resolved by the dealer - it can't be forever... To me, a month is...

D25A Mini - no longer changing modes

Super strange... I was reading through responses and so I thought I'd try the D25A again, as it was sitting empty in front of my keyboard. So I can (inconsistently) get it to change modes by turn it on, backing it very slightly to off, then pulling the head VERY quickly a few times. If I...

    What's your EDC, Go-To, or favorite knife/knives?

Perhaps the flashlight affliction is contagious to other devices. Just started getting interested in blades; been carrying a Spyderco Ladybug 3 or Dragonfly 2 at work - my office setting doesn't warrant the weight (or raised eyebrows) of anything larger. Just received a Benchmade RSK mk1 to...

    headlamp H600 weight

I was amazed at how much lighter it is than the sc600(w). Given that, it's pretty bouncy if you are active (running, etc) and you'll need to (minimally) consider doubling the band through the holder in order to have it be secure. But given the power, it is totally acceptable...

    Helping people understand the price.

I nearly fell out of my chair when I read that! Regarding the original post - it depends on what you are showing them. I find if you let folks handle a few lights see how flexible (and bright and relatively tiny) a quality light can be, they get that it isn't going to cost $20. And if they...

    Best AA-powered flashlight?

Quark X AA2 is a great choice; another thing that I think you'll prefer over the PA40 is the beam pattern - PA40 much floodier than Quark X AA2; I find the Quark X to be more "usable" for many real-life tasks (the Quark still has a substantial amount of usable spill)
