I'm looking for a tough, waterproof and reliable headlamp...

Buy two PrincetonTec EOS and carry one for backup. Stoke them with Lithiums for long run-time in cold weather. Brightguy.com sells them for $35ea.

Why so much interest in hand-held flashlights relative to headlamps?

Tradition is hard to break. But I see the military is switching to headlamps, so Law Enforcement is probably only a decade away. If I see a picture of someone holding a light in their teeth I laugh. But I know some folks are a bit slow to wise up.

best Lightweight, hiking headlamp, any suggestions?

I have a Byte and like it. Just about perfect for a hiking light. I also have a PT EOS, which is a bit more light than I need for hiking. Pro's & Con's of the Byte: "+" cheap, easy to feed, supports lithium, lightweight, excellent spill and good spot. "-" switch is a little mushy, only water...

looking for a low price LED headlite...looking for suggestions

The Princeton Tec Byte goes for $20 or less. Not as good as the Eos, but better than the Energizer.

    Recommendation for a new headlamp

I'm not sure about the accolades heaped on Zebralight - might be deserved or it just might be group-think. I've got a lot of headlamps and the following is based on what gets used the most by me. I backpack, hunt, walk the dogs at night, etc. - a lot. I've done a fair amount of hiking out of...

    Princeton Tec Byte

Just bought one. Great little light. Nice white light - huge improvement over the PT Quad's blue tint. Perfect for BP'ing, hiking, etc. where you don't need a personal death ray. Just the right amount of spill. I like that wimpy red light - just about perfect for reading. I still don't know if...

    Princeton Tec Byte

I would say that this is a replacement for, and improvement over, the Streamlight Enduro (originally sold at Target as RiverRock). The Enduro was a pretty good regulated light in its day, but the manufacturer decided not to improve it with new LED technology. I'm going to pick one of these PT...

Best LED for a Streamlight Enduro Upgrade

Well I modded one with a Cree XR-E "neutral white". Results were OK, but nothing exciting. No more blue tint, which is very nice. But overall light output seems to be about the same - at least to my eyes.

Best LED for a Streamlight Enduro Upgrade

I have a couple Enduro's, which are great lights but a little bluish in tint. Now there have been some great advancements in luminosity and color since the Enduro was designed. What would be the best upgrade for this 1/2watt headlamp?

    Lowes 170 lumen headlamp

I hate to play captain obvious here, but just how long do you think 3xAAA's is going to provide 170lumens? About 60 seconds?

Extraordinary River Rock 4.5 watt headlight

I thought Nuwai designed and manufactured the "River Rock" brand - right?

Remington Arms LED Headlight RMHL4AA-B Review

Unfortunately I threw my River Rock 1watt headlamp battery pack away....but I kept the led to play with. The retainer and the lightbar red led are the tipoff I used to id it as Nuwai. My battery pack had the wire end cemented in place, obviously yours doesn't have that, which is good. Mine...

Remington Arms LED Headlight RMHL4AA-B Review

The only major downside I see with that light is that it is using the River Rock (Nuwai) battery pack. That battery pack is the weak link because of the contact style. The contacts will deform from heat and you will discover that the contact end of the case is cemented in place making it...

New & Old Enduro (river rock) is bluish

I was kindof bummed. Love my old river rock 0.5W headlamp, only downside is that the LED has a significant bluish tint. Bought a new Streamlight Enduro for the wife and it has a bluish tint also. Was/is there ever a version sold with a truly white LED?
