    Customizing a SureFire E2E?

If they are in good shape, it would be the most economic (and boring) solution to sell them on the collectors market and buy some newer LED E-Series like E2DL or ... The only economic upgrade would the Lumens Factory upgrade, which costs about 50$ per light. The Malkoff/VME combo will be around...

SF Stratum, What is the LED's working Voltage?

According to the datasheet, it has a typical Vf of 3.42V, ranging from 2.79V to 4.23V. The led seems to be driven at 1.5A to achieve the output of 160 lumen. With a buck driver You will need a battery voltage above the leds Vf plus the voltage loss of the driver. My conclusion is, that it might...

What to do with a Solarforce L2R?

Get a low voltage drop-in for it. If You don't use it, give it away. Non flashaholics would be impressed by this light.

    Home made triple P60s

The XP-E has a Vf of ca. 3.5V at a current of1A. This means You need about 3.65V to keep the light in regulation if You're using the popular 7135 linear regulator. Only IMR cells can keep the necessary voltage at a current of 5A for a few minutes. Xp-Gs or Nichia 219s will perform much better.

Anyone else miss the all nitrolon Surefires?

I read some recommendations not to use the Malkoff M61 and use the M61L instead in a G2 with an aluminum bezel. The M61L has something about 500-600 mA at the LED. So 200 OTF Lumen should be possible with a XP-G2 or with an XM-L, both in the higer flux bins.

What happened to the Lux-RC triple engines?

Serge just relaunched his site, maybe You should ask him about it.

    L2T... need advise

The intl-outdoor store drop in is using a driver with linear regulators. These drivers need a Voltage slightly over the LEDs Vf. The Voltage of the 3100mAh cells drops very fast at high currents. If You use HKJs battery comparator, You will see that some 2600mAh cells have a higher voltage and...

The Surefire 6p seemed to be hugely popular, will the 6px be also?

The original 6P was a milestone because it offered a lot of light in a very compact package compared to almost all other lights of it's time. The 6PX is just one of many LED lights with 200 or 320 Lumen. The quality might be better than many other lights, but only a few mass market customers...

Surefire, Malkoff, Elzetta or other light for heavy duty pocket backup flashlight?

What amount of regulated runtime do You need? this can be an issue with the Elzettas because they only accept 16mm and 17 mm cells. They can't compare to the 18650s in the amount of stored energy at the necessary current and voltage level. If You look at HKJs comparison for a 1Amp discharge down...

Surefire, Malkoff, Elzetta or other light for heavy duty pocket backup flashlight?

If You're considering Malkoff drop ins, You should take care of the necessary voltage. The M60, which are Elzettas default, require 3.8V for regulation, which is too much for one cell. In this case You should get two 16340s.

The HDS clips are also fitting (like the NovaTac).

Switch compatibility - SureFire vs Solarforce?

A too short/weak spring might be the issue. Please check if there is a gap between the tailcap and the main body. If there is no gap it might be possible that the switch doesn't screw fully down and therefore it can't make contact with the end of the tube. In this it might help to shorten the...

SureFire EB1 Backup 200 Lumen Flashlight

The newer LEDs are not suitable for compact and throwy lights, because they get their increased output by an increased die surface, which sacrifices throw.

The Official Malkoff Junkie thread - Part 2

It should run fine. HKJs review of small cells also includes a capacity comparison chart for a discharge down to 3.4V. The better 16340 cells can provide almost 0.6Ah at a discharge current of 0.1A. This should give You almost 15 hours of regulated runtime with the M61NLLLL.
