    Surefire EB1-Tactical

    I just picked up one of these and am loving the mix of a useful lower low mode with the throwy high. Almost perfect combination. The twist for constant does not bother me- I always like the G2/6p type UI. With a knuckle ring, I think it will make an excellent pistol light.

    Favorite Benchmade??

    Favorites: 710 in D2 550 in D2 I've also owned or used: 556, 551, 580, 940, 3550 auto, Presidio auto, AFO auto, Infidel auto. The 550 is probably all-around the most useful. Both hold an edge for a very long time. The 550 is slightly easier to open and use.

    Spyderco Warranty Question

    I had an Endura 4. The lock bar peened and eventually wore out after 8 years of hard use. It would close without unlocking. I called spyderco to see what they would do. They quoted $20-30 to repair it. I now have a paramilitary. They are great knives, but the warranty is not great.

    Anyone else using a Sidewinder?

    I have a sidewinder compact but I don't use it at work. I like the flood from the SF lights for helmet light stuff. I tried the sidewinder, but it stuck out more and caught on things. Firstlight Tomahawk is another great light you might run into. We were issued sets with a pivoting molle mount.

    I only carry one aaa or aa light at a time on an edc basis. In the field and at home, I always have at least one extra headlamp. I use headlamps more than any other light type and will never be without one...

    The supply discipline of many units downrange is very poor compared to garrison stateside- equipment is purchased and not properly accounted for, especially TPE (theater provided equipment) that stays in theater when units transfer authority.
