iCharger: impressions & comparisons to cheaper hobby chargers.

Ok, I know this post was from a gazillions years ago, but wanted to add my $0.02 in case someone does a search and finds this. I use the cheapest Turnigy Reaktor charger, the 250W 10A. It also lets you change time, temp, and capacity cut off settings during charging. I literally just tried it...

    Multi-level driver for SSC P7 under $8 ?

A MCU is a microcontroller, basically a system on a chip. You can write software on your Linux, Unix, or Windows machine and download it into the MCU. My current favorite is the Texas Instruments MSP430. For only $20, you can get a development system made up of a usb programmer and a small...

    Best AA flashlight for handlebars

The light is well reviewed. The only downside imo is that it is a 1-mode. (Well, some people want 1 mode, so it depends). On a bike, I figure one of the lights should be able to blink. In those shoulder times right before dusk or right after dawn, you don't need a light to see the road, but...

It look very McGyverish. This is a compliment ;) Nice work, shows a lot of ingenuity

    "Plumber's Delight" bikelight

I really like this type of homebrew, especially the $7 worth of copper fittings part. Probably the only thing keeping me from making one is that it would show my crappy pipe soldering skills. I'm pretty good with a soldering iron, but sweating pipe is a different thing altogether.

    Which light for night hikes...

Having two of the same model might be good too. On a really unlucky day, you can cobble together parts from the two to get a working light.

    When to pitch NiMH's?

Of course, by "toss them" everyone means toss them into the battery recycling bin at Circuit City, Home Depot, Beast Buy, etc ;)

    Rear Light - Design Considerations

Maybe I'm missing something, but how can a lens only with an emitter and not a star? I mean, the star is just like a metal plate. Is their lens so weird that if I mounted an emitter on a large aluminum plate it wouldn't work? Edit: Just looking at the product, it seems to me that...

LED headlights in 2009 Honda Insight Hybrid?

Looks like Honda will be using multiple slug LEDs for headlights in their 2009 Insight. They call the car the "prius killer." Wonder if they are using Cree, Luxeon, or something else?? off http://automobiles.honda.com/insight-hybrid/exterior-photos.aspx illuminated...

    Lenses for a Seoul P7?

Careful, cyan might be too close to blue. If you are in the U.S., blue light is an illegal color on a moving vehicle, and the cops won't overlook the violation. The color is reserved for ambulances and other emergency vehicles.

    Good clones?

This is very true. They seem to be inherently unreliable, too many points of failure.

    Tiablo (M)A1 - Luxeon Rebel 100 AAA

Kai's search uses google, but no hits for Tiablo. Maybe google hasn't crawled Kai's site yet. Anyway, here is a link to the light on Kai's site http://www.kaidomain.com/WEBUI/ProductDetail.aspx?TranID=3542

    Recommendation for backup bike light?

Is the diffuser from the manufacturer, or something you did on your own? Never mind. Found the answer to my question in a different thread ;)

    Laptop Battery help

Do fleabay sellers offer reasonably recent li-on batteries? A few magazines say that lithium ion has a shelf life of 3 to 4 years, even if sitting unused.

    Laptop Battery help

Have you tried recalibrating? There should be a battery calibration page somewhere. I've used all manner of Compaq/HP for the last several years, and they all have it. If you've reinstalled the operating system, then you need to download the calibrator from hp.com. It either the "power...
