    Awesome HDS Mod by Milky...

Milkyspit, To get me in the ball park of my light's lumen output after the mod, I did a minor calculation based on your Before and After SCU figures. First I divided the Before shampoo cap units of 20,000 by the After shampoo cap units of 11,570. The result is 1.73. This tells me how much the...

What is the brightest LED flashlight under 4" long?

Something tells me to mention the Cree Orb

Fun with pennies, R123a, and a PILA charger

Well I don't think I'll have a problem with pennies moving away, since I've checked how many pennies are needed for holding the R123 in place but not to cause any slippage or deadly projectiles.

Fun with pennies, R123a, and a PILA charger

Well this should keep my R123as from being toasted from the resistance, but wouldn't the current take the path of least resistance (Through the outer coating of copper instead of the other materials within the penny?)

Fun with pennies, R123a, and a PILA charger

Well a PILA IBC charges at the 600MAH range, and seeing a MP cell is about 700MAH in capacity, I'm just under the 1C rate (The highest you can go for a LiIon). The other part is that it uses a CC/CV charging method, so I shouldn't be toasting any cells here...

Fun with pennies, R123a, and a PILA charger

If don't have spacers that fit exactly, pennies are great substitutes. I also used my multimeter to check the resistance, from what I see so far it shouldn't be a problem.

    Concept: MicroROP

Quick calculations - 4x 600MAH = 2400 MAH, which is close enough to having a 18650 if we're talking about R123as with 600 MAH, don't forget the current load will be distributed over several cells, reducing stress per cell. [Well, if you think about it, this is more efficient in storage by using...

    Concept: MicroROP

Materials - PR2 Host Body ROP Bulbs R123as and a battery holder Strange idea - What if one were to take R123as and put them in a 4x2 parallel configuration? (You have 4 R123s doing 4.2 volts nominal hooked up to another 4 R123s making 8.4 volts nominal) This could be implemented with 3 or 4 to...

    DSD charger PS is POS!

By chance, has anyone else here have a bad DSD wall wart? For some reason, my original wall wart is causing what appears to be faulty behavior. One example is when I place a MP R123 in, and the charge indicator light blinks green-red, most of the time on green.

    Sad day for Lumens....

I would suggest that you to build a ROP LE. That will definitely blow the kid away without costing too much.

You can always use a buck circut that can handle 18 volts and make it something that a Luxeon can use or LED Cluster.
