After changing these do you still feel this is the proper size, and any other failures after the swap to 22mm ID x 2mm rings?
Did you change the body O rings, and the tailcap or only the body?
What type of O rings should be used, silicone or other?
Thanks
Thanks for all responses, sounds like both lenses will be fine but I am interested to know how the acrylic one does on your deeper dive anyway.
I've read your blog about converting these to video lights, and am considering doing the same with one or two more myself.
Was wondering if mounting...
Recently bought a couple of these 26650 single XM-L dive lights.
One came with a glass lens and the other with a plastic lens.
Glass lens measures:
46.9 × 3.0mm
Plastic Lens measures:
47.2 × 2.6mm
Are these thicknesses strong enough for recreational diving?
I would prefer to have a glass...
I have the same dive light and I'm thinking of buying another one or two to mod like yours.
In clear water, any guesses what the effective range would be if you used a pair of lights modded like yours?
It should, even just off the charger 3x NiMH would be about 4.2v, alkalines 4.5v. Lithiums would be 5.1v so not sure about using them but might be fine with voltage sag.
Just ordered one of the new 3-mode low voltage XP-G drop-in's. Will be be powering with 2x AA eneloops and will post comparison to the 3-mode R2 when it arrives.
I suggested a low voltage XP-G 3-mode to Jo a couple of months ago, glad to see they have it now. I hope the draw is more consistent on these, I have several of the R2 lv 3-mode drop-in's and they vary widely on draw and brightness.
Looks like the 5700K rendered the colors much closer to what I assume it looks like in daylight, makes sense I guess as daylight is closer to 5700K than 3000K. With the 3000K things look too reddish brown to me.
Thanks for the beamshots though, for me I think it would be a choice between 5700K...
After my reply to KD's first response, they have agreed to send replacement switches.
Not sure how long it will take however as the first switches took a month to get to me, or if they will be good or not though. PM sent as I'm interested in all options at this point.
Dave:
Regarding my 3-mode XP-G R4 low voltage module that I use with 2x AA eneloops or energizer lithiums:
I've seen you mention that you set a pot on these drivers, and I see what appears to be a variable potentiometer on the back side of the driver. Is this adjustable to control current...
With an L2R you will be using 2x AA cells of your choice so I would recommend one of their low voltage .8-4.2v R2 modules. I prefer the 3-mode but others like the single mode or 5-mode.
The higher voltage modules won't work with 2x AA's.
