Ever buy a light, not use it for years, then suddenly find it useful?

Cool story... I don't have any story close to this. The only story that even comes close is that, when I bought my first two SF lights - E1L and E2e - I used both for about a year, after the incandescent bulb blew, other brighter and shinier lights took centre-stage and I put those two lights...

'SHOT SHOW Special' Review: Streamlight SIEGE AA Lantern (3xAA)

Great review. I like the AA format and the switch that acts as a fuel gauge. Just one question: you mentioned that the diffuser really reduces the output - when you remove the diffuser, how do you find the output? Is it blinding or does it give a good overall illumination?

Hi bubble, would you perhaps be interested in a trade? I have a Kuku LF2XT Ti complete light (Run #2). Please pm if you're interested and I can provide photos.

Give us what we want manufacturers... Hi CRI Neutral White emitters(poll to prove it)

Thanks GG and Henry for your comments - it was very interesting to see. Btw, all those 4 things mentioned (strobe, SOS, Strike Bezels, Green tint) are things I personally dislike! I think there were some very insightful comments especially the observation that the vast majority of consumers...

Sold/Expired TNT Reflector/Extreme service mods for Surefire KX1/KX2/KX2C/E1B/E2DL/LX2 heads

I received my KX2 head with Reflector mod a couple of weeks ago and... dang!!! I was pretty impressed. I chose the N219 and lucidrv driver. This thing is sweet! As most everyone here knows, colour temperature for the N219 is beautiful! Obviously, it's not as bright as an XM-L2 but that's not...

    The Missing 2AA Headlamps

+1 for the Spark SD52. Sadly, I don't use it too often but the key reason I bought it was for combination of output and added runtime, as stated by a couple of the responses. And, although it seems bulky, I don't notice it that much when I'm wearing it on my head. I have to admit that I tend to...

    Surefire KL1 & RCR123A's?

Is the KL1 that you have the one with the square-ish beam? Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the 1st Gen KL1 is the ribbed version, 2nd Gen KL1 is the one with square-ish beam and approx 40 lmns. if that's the one you are referring to, I also have that one and I can tell you that...

How do you describe this hobby without sounding nuts?

Not always easy... but I tend to go with "less is more". I have been called out by a few of my friends for collecting lights but I just tell them that I'm a boy-scout - always prepared! I also tend to quote Monocrom as well that there is 100% chance of darkness every day. Still, three of my...

    Things change over time

Hmm... interesting observation and I had a chuckle about your comment that your AA lights are like tribbles. I started off way back in the day with 4D maglites, when I discovered CPF, I gravitated to small, single cell lights (R/CR123's mainly), moved quickly to 2xCR123's lights, various...

    Zebralight H32 & H32w

Thanks for posting pics lockdoc. Dang, that is tiny! Looking forward to more pics - interested in seeing beamshots as well. I have had a few ZL headlamps in both AA and CR123 versions and I never really noticed much of a weight difference between the two. I did notice a bit of a difference in...

Which AA Zebra Light Head Lamp?

+1 for the H52Fw. I agree with the comments about the 'bouncing ball': I also find that when you have the bright hotspot, you get tunnel-vision. I have had a few ZL AA lights, including the original H50 (still have it but retired it), H51w (too much of a hotspot, gave this one away to a...

Are headlamps your " everything light" ?

No, headlamps are not personally my everything light. I do tend to use them a lot around the house and when camping. I also use bike-specific lights when riding at night, esp. ones that have the option to convert to a headlamp. However, I don't tend to edc a headlamp since it's obviously a bit...

What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

The lights I tend to use are my ZL H52Fw headlamp, my Maratac AAA which is on my keychain and my SF Z2 + 3-mode XP-G2 dropin. Of course, like a good flashoholic, I have a few other lights close by just in case...
