Terralux TLE-6EX(B): how hot and bad is it??

I will have a go at reformatting my spreadsheet and post some results - is it possible to post a table?

Terralux TLE-6EX(B): how hot and bad is it??

Ah yes - the ceiling bounce test. I used to do that but found that: I wasn't always holding the light in the same place, so reading varied, even for the same light. AND I am inherently lazy :lolsign:, so built a lightbox for my light meter, that sits next to my computer - so I don't have to get...

Terralux TLE-6EX(B): how hot and bad is it??

Not used them for longer than 10 -15 minute bursts, so not really able to address your initial question - which is why I instead chose to chip-in later :)

Terralux TLE-6EX(B): how hot and bad is it??

Apologies if I mis-understood your post, but I got the impression that you expected the Malkoff to be a big improvement over a TLE, based on comparing lumen ratings between your values and Malkoff's. I wasn't suggesting it won't be better, just that only direct comparisons are really valid. As...

Terralux TLE-6EX(B): how hot and bad is it??

The Malkoff lumen output is based on the emitter rated output - or at least used to be: Also remember that your lumens, my lumens and most other quoted lumens are all different! For instance I rate the 6EX (6 cell) at about 100 lumens and the 6EXB (2 cell) at 80.

Anyone has lux reading on a MTE SSC P7?

Don't expect rapid shipment and delivery from DX - not how they work. e.g. My MTE order 11th April, shipping notification 24th, arrived 2nd May. I tend to order something, forget about it, then get a nice surpirse when it arrives :) Aluminium obviously will handle the heat better, but the...

Anyone has lux reading on a MTE SSC P7?

I don't have any LED Lenser or Nitecore lights so can't compare these. Also, just realized that there are a few P7 lights from DX - this is the one I have (different to the one you have ordered): MTE SSC P7 900-Lumen 5-Mode Super LED Flashlight (18650)...

Anyone has lux reading on a MTE SSC P7?

I can only tell you what I get. But this is pretty typical for floody/'wall of light' lights. Imagine the hotspots from 4 SSC P4s next to each other (not focused in the same place) - the lux is not much higher than 1 on its own. If you wanted throw this isn't for you, it does light a room well...

Anyone has lux reading on a MTE SSC P7?

I have the MTE P7, and it is a very floody light, not really a thrower. Mine gets approx 3500 lux at 1m, and puts out about 300-400 lumens. I don't have a Led Lenser P7, so can't compare figures.

    3 D-cell Mag, Lumens?

3 cell Mag - approx. 35 lumens 2 cell Mag - approx. 15 lumens Interestingly though: 2 cell bulb with 3 cells - 50 - 60 lumens :grin2: (obviously with much reduced life.)

    Surefire and rechargables

Also the standard lamps in most Surefire lights are designed for (multiples of) 3v lithium primaries, and are already driven quite hard - LiIon rechargeables are 3.7v and will blow the lamp. The P60L (LED rather than incandescent) is an exception, as this is designed for both 2x and 3x lithium...

    SureFire E1B Backup

I wonder what happens when the batteries are getting low - i.e. not enough power left to run on high - will it be possible to click through to low? IIRC there was another multi-level light had this problem, even though the batteries could run on low - it wasn't possible to get to low.
