    RECOIL THROWER

    +1 for the Dereelight DBS w/ XR-E & SMO or aspheric head. both will give you great throw. Tiablo A9 or A10 is another one that produces great results and also has an aspheric head option. not sure where to find them at this point though.

    Is it that hard to focus a XML emitter?

    when manufactures come up w/ a new style of emitter (ie the XP or SST series) it is commonplace for them to make a second or third version w/ a larger die. this way they are increasing output but are still using the same basic technology. its a way to develop a new product w/ minimal R&D expense.

    that's just the way larger emitters are. the larger source point of emitted light means there is a smaller concentration of light w/ which to begin. most companies i'm aware of are redesigning their reflectors to optimize the focus of whatever emitter they are incorporating into their product...

    Surefire: TIR or Reflector

    not sure which I like better, it obviously depends on the application. but to be clear, TIR's are not more long-distance capable than reflectors. they are simply able to throw long distances w/out being quite as large...thats the main difference. personally I am very happy w/ my LX2 / FM54...

    What's your beater LED light(s) and why?

    my EDC is an Ra Clicky 170 so that definitely counts as a beater. the other would be my Maelstrom because its a great light but if it were totally wrecked i wouldn't care enough to replace it w/ another. my NEW beater is now an Oveready bored C2-HA w/ Z48 & Nailbender XM-L T5 4500K 3-mode.

    What was the last flashlight that made you grin that evil, powerful light grin?

    last one was a KX2 head that i picked up from vestureofblood a week ago. he modded it w/ an XM-L T6, 3-mode driver, max 2.8A its an absolute cannon and its barely larger than a Sharpie.
