I did a little searching but didn't find much in the way of an answer. I have a Z48 on my L6 and the thing puts out a high pitched squealing sound when turned on. I'm not pulling any excessive power through it, head is using a D36 dropin from Lumens Factory (Warm XML). Does the same on primaries...
My 90cri Lumens Factory D36 dropin finally arrived after almost 4 weeks.
I built a spacer out of old KL2 parts to fit it in a M3 head. Fits/works perfect on my L6 body.
I run a single AW 17670's in my e2dl, e2l with a kl4 head and another lego with a Kx2c head.
2 of the bodies needed a very light sanding with a cartrige roll to let the batteries slide in and out easy.
No issues at all. Output is very slightly lower but runtime is still great. The e2l was a...
My work edc used to be a 6pdl with AW RCR123'S and the stock p60L. I'd get a week of moderate use before needing a recharge.
Now I use a E body with a kx2c head on 1 AW 17670 that gets about 2-3 weeks with the same use.
Single battery with a matched dropin seems the way to go.
Almost identical to the Army issued ones I have. Mine are older (expire in 2015) and say "Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. ltd" instead of "Panasonic corporation" in the small print under the warnings.
I think you are fine.
Mine came in the blister packaging.
Socom and I made this little video showing how we did it today. The only thing i'll add is that we had pre-heated the bezel before the video and loosened the glue to avoid video failure.
The tool worked great!

One day at work I was using my 3-AA LED Mag for something. It was only a few weeks old and it kept flaking out on me. It was right then I decided to buy better lights for every day use.
I dont mind paying more for quality, reliablity, a good warranty and even a little resale value later on.
I was going to suggest Fastenal as well, If you can find someone that has a business account you'd be surprised at how cheap stuff is. (or maybe try to set one up)
Retail on some bolts I bought was like $6 each, I got them for like 80 cents each using my work account.
There is always...
My work light lego (e2dl body with a kx2c head and regular tailcap) to find a leak in a high pressure Vodka line. Little too bright actually but i still found the leak and fixed it.
You can see the puddle of Vodka on the floor... lol
