Hi

I was looking at getting my 6P back into use, but with rechargeable CR123s. I understand that the stock P60 will not be so happy with rechargeables, so I am looking at replacing that.

Will the Malkoff M61LL be okay running on rechargeables? Should I look at any other dropins for the 100-150 lumen range?

Thanks
Jon

Malkoff M61LL voltage range is 3.4-9v.

There are also 9v incandescent lamps available, including SureFire and Lumens Factory....

:caution: Be aware of additional safety precautions recommended when using multi-cell setups.

I just resurrected my 6P with an Sportac P60 drop in. I run mine with a 17670 but I did test it out with 2 rc1r123s and it worked just fine.

+1. Get the Triple XP-G2 version of this and it'll blow you away...or at least it did for me. My old school, round body 6P was brought back from the dead with this drop-in. Plus, it's only about $32 w/CPF discount. I'm also running a rechargeable 17670 li-ion and it works great.

The M61LL will fit ur needs & ur batteries choices well.
For 100 to 150 lumens, u should be able have some decent run time as well.
Do note that the sportac dropins that is mentioned is a single mode & the output might be way too much for ur needs.

On 2xRCR123, here's your approximate run times and lumens:

Sportac Triple, 25 minutes, 600+ lumens
Malkoff M61LL, 6 hours, 100 lumens

It all depends on what you're looking for, runtime or output?

Thanks for all the responses! I guess I want to make use of the 6P on rechargeables. I have a feeling that 600 lumens might be a bit much for my planned general use, but may well consider it for the pure funness!

Thanks

There are many dropins available and you need to match the cells to the dropin. The Malkoff M61 has a voltage input range of 3.4 to 9 V - so 2Xrcr123 (approximately 8.4V) is fine. But the Malkoff M361 has a range of 3.4 to 6 V - so 2xrcr123 is too much. This dropin will run on 1x17670. If your 6P is bored, you can use an 18650 which has more capacity. The M361 is 3 mode and the M61 will only be 1 mode in a 6P. If you use 2xrcr123, be aware of the safety measures required (e.g. balanced cells).

If you're not so interested in runtime, you can drop a P90 (9 volt) lamp in the 6P and run it on 2xRCR123. It will only run for about 20 minutes, but it will be nice!

Seriously though, I'd suggest getting a drop in that will run on 1x17670. It will deliver longer runtime when compared to 2xRCR123

That's what I did with my 6P LED. Redilast/EDC+ 3 mode 530LM XM-L2 U2 dropin for $40 with coupon and two protected Redilast 17670s using the Sanyo 16650 2000mAh cells.

I got a good deal on the 6P at $35 + tax and I dropped another $72 into it to make it a nice '$70 light,' lol.

My work edc used to be a 6pdl with AW RCR123'S and the stock p60L. I'd get a week of moderate use before needing a recharge.

Now I use a E body with a kx2c head on 1 AW 17670 that gets about 2-3 weeks with the same use.

Single battery with a matched dropin seems the way to go.
